do ssris cause weight gain

i seen somone post somthing like this on a different forum  i was jw also do you think ill gain weight since i stoped takin pain killers its not i a big deal but id just like to know thanks

They CAN cause you to gain weight, but some of them actually cause the opposite..often on most of them, in the beginning, people lose weight since they tend to cause loss of appetite.

Some people eat because they are depressed...some people lose their apetite when they are depressed...that type may gain weight with the AD as they are no longer depressed and their apetite returns

I heard that too with anti depressents maybe its a slowing of the system that does it another thought
