You will never be made fun of here or ridiculed.  Those people that did that to you are not worth losing your self worth.  They are the ones with problems.  Go and be really honest at your meetings and tell them some of the underlying issues you have mentioned here.  Sounds like you started drinking to fit in and numb your pain.  Take back your life David......You are so very important to us here and we will also help you get that self esteem up.  You stand up and be proud of who you are!!!!       sara

I agree with sarah, you need to try to be positive and right now it sounds like your gonna have to force yourself to do that. Surrounding yourself with negativity has bad effects on us and if you started to feel better about yourself I bet the drinking would be easier to stop. Since your issue is feeling like your not worthy, maybe you could talk to a professional about that, we need to get to the bottom of why we use. I am glad to see you continuing to post and be honest like you are, that is important. You already have a few that care about you on here, so you are important. Get back to those meetings and believe in yourself man, the pity party ends today:)

I would of never thought i would be on a forum like this either but here i am.  I am an alcoholic and drug addict.  I have been clean from pills over 310 days now.  I am going to be 48 yrs old in a couple months........I just dont want to see you waste any more time.  You will never drink it fun anymore.  Those days are over.  You can be sober again and life will be good.  Drinking will only bring misery anymore.  Tomorrow is a new day and it can be a new beginning for you.........

You matter David........Dont give up on yourself.  I know it is tough not having a job but drinking is only going to make it worse.  Drinking can cause depression......we need you to start thinking positive so when that job comes around you will be ready.

I have followed your story since you came on here.  I know you want to get sober and you have it in you to get that way.  I too remember feeling like there was no hope but there is.  Drinking isnt fun anymore is it??  Before you go out and get that beer get on here and talk to us.  Tell yourself 10 times a day you are a good person and that there is hope and you are worthwhile.  I know that sounds corny but you will start to believe that and that is what you need to do.  I am here for you........sara
