drug interactions

What are the potential effects of taking the following meds on a daily basis: approximately 70 mg of dextroamphetimines, approximately 30 mg of xanax, and approximately 15 mg of zyprexa?

My friend is pretty much self-medicating himself using a therapists help for prescriptions, and I'm worried about the interactions/addictiveness.

Just so you know, he's 42 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia 11 years ago; hence, the zyprexa. He says the xanax helps his mind "calm down" when it starts acting up, and the dextroamphetimines help "wake him up" as he goes to work at 5:00 a.m.  It seems like he can't live without some sort of upper or downer....

Thanks.

30mg of xanex is a ridiculous amount and dangerous with schizophrenia they use a lot of different meds zyprexa is common for many different mental illness but theres more to the story if he truly is taking 30mg of xanex hes ether got multiple doctors or hes getting them off the street this is a red flag of abuse to me............Gnarly

Does his regular MD know about these meds also?

Whoa!  That's an unbelievable amount of xanax. Are you sure?

The speed/amphetamine and the benzo are addicting. The zyprexa also has some sedating qualities.

How long has he been taking this?  It may be he can't live without the meds. Schizophrenia is a very complicated illness. I'd leave this one to his physician.

Due to his schizo I would not mess with his medication. Since he is being monitored by a doctor, i wouldn't be worried. Xanax is highly addictive but he needs it. My friend of 10 years is taking the same meds. She tried to stop with the xanax but couldnt function at work. As long as it's not pain meds or things that can be helped other ways, don't mess with his meds!
