emphysema damage

by Jerry Scott, Nov 20, 1999 12:00AM

As a 43 y.o. w/m, I quit smoking 5 weeks ago and I feel fantastic.  I have returned to the gym with my new found energy...I feel like a 20 year old.  Back on my diet and dropping the weight.

Yet, I am worried about how much irreversible damage I have done.

All of my blood work looks fine, radiology reports no enlarged heart, and mild emphysema, only mild shortness of breath.

Are there tests available that can tell me the extent of damage caused by the emphysema?  Will it continue to worsen?  What can I do to rehabilitate myself?

Many thanks!
