energy level

energy level

I am on day six of detox from OXY use of four years and it was heavy abuse. Well for me anyway. Two 30 mg oxycontin and Twelve 15mg oxycodone IR daily. I finally feel good and that mustard or metallic smell and taste is gone. It is just the energy level i have is very low. I tried to venture out of the house today and i did not last long because i was sooooo tired. How do I gain some energy? Will it ever come back?

Congrat's on 6 days. I know its been a fight and now your body needs to regroup from that 1st stage of detox. 2nd week  for me was mostly emotional and low energy levels. My advise is if you havent already, get some vitamins and or amino's and make yourself a routine to get busy doin something, rather it be workin out, walkin or just tinkering around the house. Motivational music helped me to. Grab something that takes ya back to those times ya didnt use. Before ya know it energy and positive thinking will be back :) .... vgl   Craig

Just like the above posts I would say take some vitamins, mainly your b-vitamins and also maybe a multi-vitamin. The amino acid can also help with energy, if you can afford to go get some l-tyrosine it can help boost your energy, although I found that it made a little jittery but it did help with energy. If you can I would start doing some sort of excersie, even a nice brisk walk everyday for a couple of weeks can make a big difference. Thats how I started and slowly progressed into actually going to the gym and I really feel like excercise has been the key to me getting my natural energy levels back. Ive gone through past detoxes where I would make it through everything physical but I really never got that "pep in my step" again, which was part of the reason I always ended up back using. This time around I forced myself to start going for walks after day 5 of withdrawals, each day I walked a little longer than the previous day, really just focusing on working towards a daily improvement. I found that the more time I spent walking, cleaning, driving, games, really just anything to keep my mind occupied it made the time go by a little faster. Regardless of whether you decide to some excercise just know that eventually you'll get your natural energy back. My own thought is just that excercise really helped speed up the process for me, so its the best advice I can give to anyone coming off opiates. Getting back into shape has given me my life back, its really true that when you look good, you feel good, but it does take some work. I wish you all the best, sorry to sound like some sort of fitness junkie, trust me Im not. Anyways congrats on making it this far, your definetely through the worst of it, I would try some of the b-vitamins and aminos to see if that helps some. As always the best cure is time, it just takes our bodies awhile before it starts producing like it did before opiate dependence. Best of luck to you with your continued success, take care.

The energy of lack of, is what really bothered me too along with the depression, I couldn't tell where one left and the other came, just all at the same time!

I went to the Dr. last week and asked about the withdrawl (withdrawal) and why the emotions and lack of energy affected me so much after detox.  He said that it takes about 2 months or so before the  receptors in the base (back) of the brain actually start working on their own.  I was amazed to hear this, as I am there and then some!  Mine must be a bit sluggish, after 5 yrs. lol        I am trying d-ribose. they say it takes a while but helps give the muscles and heart some energy. I'm also trying co-Q10 and dhea.  I guess I will try anything non-opiate.

Best wishes to you all one your quits.

Energy will return but you need to help it a little, like everyone said exercis is the best way i know you feel like your gonna fall on your face just walking to the bathroom but keep going a little farthe revery day and pretty soon it won;t be so hard also the b vitamins do help alot i tried the tyrosine also but I could not deal with the jitters,I was having trouble with anxiety and it seemed to aggravate it more. I also drank tons of water and that seemed to help alot

The energy is there but you have to work to find it...if you're getting sleep and eating right, recommend you start exercising, either gym or just walks but have an exercise plan.  My real energy didn't come back full for almost 3 months...

Keep Going...ge's better day by day
