false positive urine drug screen

I was given a urine drug screen last night that tested positive for benzos.  I have not been on any tranquilizers!  My current medication regime includes Effexor XR 150mg bid, Seroquel 200mg, taking 400mg qhs, Betaseron 1cc qod subq.  I was put on Bactrim last week bid for 5 days for a urinary tract infection.  In May, June and part of July I was taking Trazdone 200mg qhs, but then switched back to Seroquel 200mg, taking 400mg qhs.  I am confused as to what caused the positive test for benzos? Will you please help me to understand this?  Thank you

Yes asking what might cause a false postive in an addiction forum is a bit odd if you are not using. Not to mention regardless That is not info we have  here I know If you google what things can find flase postives on drug test you can find some lists that may help.  When it comes to questions asking about passing drug tests we dont answer them on this forum and I stand by that 100 % .

I think I answered my post in a way that was misinterpreted. I think the question is quite appropriate. I have no qualms with it being asked. I was just stating that this is an addiction forum and I doubt any of us would know if any of those drugs caused false positives. We know a lot about addiction and such, but I just thought that she'd be better off asking it in the Pharmacy forum or a lab company forum. I'm sorry I worded my answer the way I did. No disrespect intended.

Hi & Welcome,

I agree that you need to retest.

Yes, we do not permit members to ask "how do I pass a drug test" but that is not what you asked. I think the member "GaGuy" jumped to conclusions with that one and I am sorry about that. that is not the norm here so please ignore his comments. You are questioning why you failed the test. That is a valid question but since we are not doctors or a lab we cannot answer that for you. Sorry.

I do find it odd though that you posted in the addiction community? Do you think you have a problem? If so, please talk to us and tell us the whole story. There are many members here that can share with you their experience and can help you.

Hope to see you post again.

I am not sure why this is not the place to ask a question concerning a drug test...seems to me you are assuming a lot...how do you know that this person is either trying to stop, or already stopped and is seeking info from people who may have the answers. Even if I am wrong, there are too many people on here that do a lot of assuming and push people away so quickly without all the facts. Doesn't seem right and sure isn't welcoming! Just my thoughts....

This isn't the place to really ask this. It's an addiction forum. I think you'd do best to take avisg's advice and ask for a rescreen and a confirmation blood test.
