I've always been tiny and nothing tastes good but I want something to taste good so here's to finding something that taste good I've never been able to put weight on and can eat like nobody's busines but if getting off these pills puts 10lbs on me maybe i'll have a dang *** for once
LOL u go suzi! Ive been reading today on the foods that up the serotonin in your brain, if you wish to hear some of it, i can post them here. They all help produce more serotonin, and a couple of them destress your body, one is pretzels, and it also said pretzels were good for headaches!, baked potatoes without the bacon and fattening parts causes lots of serot..Twizzlers candy they say is good for stress and serotonin, low in fat too, if you like those, cereal and granola bars are both good carbs to soothe stress, also graham crackers and toast w/jelly or jam will destress and bring out endorphins. This article also said that serotonin is an appetite suppressant. I didn't know that one, very good to know though! :) Hope you like some of that stuff. I know I do lol...
it wont go away anyway if u starty back on pills...just like smokers gain but they dont lose it if they start back...we are less haggard and stressed looking for pills all the ime and we eat instead of swallow pills...we are better off just gotta bump up the cardio and take a close look at the foods we eat...my goal is no fast food nor sweets til february cept christmas day///and 30 -45 on the elyptical/bike..minimum and a yoga class 4 times a week
thanks- I needed to hear this from you all. Yea, it bums me out that I've gained some wt., but I am keeping it in perspective and know that it doesnt bother me enough to start popping pills again. Actually, since I am an addict- I hope my next addiction is evercise and healthy eating! LOL........just wish it was nice outside. Dont like a my treadmill at all.
Tomorrow will be 14 days clean!! Yea haw! I think I'll dance my clean fat *** around the room!
i ve gained 15 to 18 lbs since july when i did ct. i know i am substituting one addition for another but food is good. i never ate a lot on meds and was too thin so the extra weight doesn t bother me too much but i would hope to lose some by next july. we shall see but i wouldn t let it get to you. eat your heart out...maria :)
Yes! Yes! Yes!
In my past detoxes I lost weight because I couldn't eat.
This last time I used the Thomas Recipe, and was able to eat sweats ONLY. So yes, I gained rapidly about 10 lbs, and of course took a long time to take off.
It's rare that you will gain, but definetly doable.
Best Wishes.
I must be the exception to the case cause all I do is loose weight...food has no appeal to me at all
HOLY COW I gained weight too I had no idea it couldve been from that. Wow you learn a new thing everyday. Great post!!
Yes, I too began to have an increased appetite after I quit --- In fact all of my 'appetites' came on with a vengence --- without the drugs to dull them I felt like I was a teenager again. Some of them were very good but some (like the food thing) were not good. I justified it all and told myself (and others) that I was not going to deny myself any pleasure until I was totally clean of drugs. Now, I am paying the price and am on a diet. Boo Hoo. Ah well, a small price to pay for being clean. All the best.
The first time I really quit, and I mean for longer then a few days, I was clean for about 3 months. In that 3 months, I gained about 20lbs. I am naturally a thin girl and I ate more during that time then ever in my life. So this time, I am going on 1 year clean and I did gain a few lbs in the beginning of my detox, but lost it all. Now I am getting fat because I am pregnant!!!...lol....Go figure...
Good luck and yes it is normal for some. Most say they have no appetite...
Weight gain is normal for a lot of people.. As stated above your body is in turmoil right now.. Are you drinking more water.. Maybe eating a little more I know my appetite has come back with a vengeance.. I once went to a drug half way house years ago looking in the cup boards all there was was sweets as your body craves sweets while detoxing.. I gained 10 lbs just eating granola after one wd.. After Heroin I went from a size 4 skelator to a 12 I'm 5' 8 so that was a lot of weight..
Force yourself outside to walk or any means of movement it will help with the weight and the mental aspects it will also boost energy. Try to eat fresh veg stay away from processed food..
Congratulations on day 12 Whoo hoo Freedom from drugs is awesome.. lesa
I guess were in different situations because Youre not happy youre gaining weight and Im very happy that I am(Gaining). Just keep going, though, stay off the bad stuff.
I dont have the answer but my story is I wasnt on tramadol but oxycodone then suboxone and withdrew from the subs. although it HAS been a month, MY APPETITE IS THROUGH THE ROOF. But for me this is a good thing as I lost a lot of weight doing the bad stuff and need to put it back on. Everybody has noticed I went from eating like a bird to eating like a pig.
That is surprising to me as I have lost weight during my taper off Tramadol (probably because I actually visit the bathroom once a day versus once a week).
Maybe your metabolism has slowed down because your body is in turmoil right now. If so, it should return to normal as your body returns to normal.
I am definitely going to start walking today (I have put off exercise for too long). I too have trouble just doing a load of laundry. I will try to get outside today even if just for a short walk.
Thanks for the post and let us know how it's going.

Thats the weird thing, my appetite hasnt been great. Today, I realized I hadnt eaten until 3:00pm. By then my sugar was low, so I knew I had to eat something. I've never been a huge eater, and especially now. Food is the last thing on my mind.
I know I am not active physically either right now, (I am lucky to do my dishes, let alone exercise) but,10 lbs. is a big gain in 2 weeks, without increasing your intake.
I dont know, I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue come up?
a little surprised you have an appetite so soon after WD's
