forging prescriptions

Hello,
I recently was caught forging prescriptions by using a RX pad at my place of employment. I had become addicted to Vicodin due to chronic back pain and my doctor prescibed me 280 Vicodin with 7 refills. Needless to say when I tried to stop taking them I was going into withdrawal,so I wrote presciptions,I have since been in inpatient treatment and I am going to outpatient care. I am very remorseful and i never thought I would ever do such things,I have never been in trouble before, not even a speeding ticket. I just wanted to know if anyone has been through this and if anyone had information about if I will get jail time? I appreciate any help

Thank you so much!

Hello dear...I just wanted to give you a little bit of encouragement as others have done for me while I'm detoxing. I'm so very sorry for all you are going through, addiction is one of biggest enemies many people face. You definitely have a lot on your plate, and what your husband is doing to you is unforgivable. At your most weakest moment he should be by your side supporting you and giving you the sense that you will get through this. My husband, I must admit has been pretty harsh on me lately during my at home detox, mainly because he doesn't understand in full just how bad addictions can be. But he has been taking care of the kids for me and taking them to their extracurricular activities. Your husband is beyond wrong and what he is doing is cruel. Everyone makes mistakes, I'm sure he's made plenty in his life. So for now, focus on you and your children's future. I have faith things will work out for you. Best of luck sweetie!

I'm shocked the doctor wrote 280 pills with 7 refills....and that the pharmacist was dumb enough to fill it....Schedule 1 drugs like heroin, and lsd are totally illlegal and can only dispensed for research purposes....schedule 2 can't have any refills or be called in on the phone ( although in cases of a severe emergency a doctor can call in a small amount of schedule 2 meds so long he writes a written prescription and mails it to the pharmacy within 7 days so they have a hard copy.....schedule 3 ( vicodin) through schedule 5 drugs can be called in and can have 5 refills on them...so I am really shocked the doctor wrote 7 refills on a schedule 3 controlled substance and that the pharmacy didn't think it was an amateurish attempt to forge a script or that even if he talked to the doctor he agreed to 7 refills!!!

I was arrested in a pharmacy two times. Was put on probation the first time and the 2nd time I got caught busting scripts I was still on probation and got NO BAIL! I was going CT off 60 mg. of methadone and 4 mg. of Xanax daily. It is a grave charge. My father was a Dr. so he had enough money (40,000 and he put up his $400,000 house as collateral because I was looking at 7 years in TDC *Texas dept. of Correction" I am no longer in trouble. I put myself through collge on those drugs....but it ruined my health. Yes, this is just more of the reasons I can't seem to get off methadone and benzo's now, plus 2 rapes. Just don't get caught again ( meaning don't do it again) and you will probably get probation only. If you bite the apple twice........you are SOL. Good luck and pray!

get rid of your husband is my advice, it sounds to me he doesn't really care about how your feeling about the whole thing, he's making it about him, when really your the one who needs someone there for you right now !! you made a mistake, no ones perfect . your husband needs to not be so selfish and as for him seeing other women!! is he really worth all the stress especially with every thing thats going on right now ? you do whats best for you in the end ! good luck with everything I hope things go in your favor, I know how addiction is my boyfriends 22 and he was addicted to prescription pills like morphine and percocet  worse part is his aunt & uncle were supplying him and helping him get it !!

Most likely you will get treatment in leau of conviction.  They go easier on you if you did this because of your addiction, versus for dealing purposes. Keep doing what is suggested and most of all, pray...pray...pray.  Ive been there....done that.

May God be with you. And He will!  Just ask!!!!!!!

Gina, Wow, that is an amazing story. I read it twice. I have the exact D.O.C. as you guys. I was always seeking out more and more also.

When you wrote: "l AM going through withdrawls. I have a few pills left but refuse to take". You know that you're doing the next right thing by not using. You're stopping, you're seeking help, and your sharing about it with us. If you keep on doing the next right thing, every day, one foot in front of the other, you'll be okay. Your life will turn around. You'll be telling people your story years from now as a distant past history, as you enjoy your new life of freedom from opiates.

Take it one minute, hour and day at a time. Don't use no matter what.

I am not going to be able to give any advice on what to do with a pain pill addictation. I really wish I could, but at this point I am still dealing with my own problems and addictations. I have been married to a man who ran around on me. He had excuses too. He had every reason in the world (he said) to do it and did not care what it did to me. It hurt. You seem to have a lot on your plate. I gather (1st) a possable jail sentence, (2nd) children to have to take care of, (3rd) a job to find, (4th) to get off and stay off the pills. With a man so selfish in your life that he so concerned about his own financial self (and sexual self) that he does not care about your kids, your feelings, your health, or your marriage... I trully think that may not help your healing process. When I had that husband I did not have any issues with addictations (thank God). You do though" I just think it may make it so much harder having to deal with such stress with out the use of the pills. Get rid of him too! Ya, keep the kids, get a job, and I wish you luck with the pills, but I am sure you will get better if you get rid of the man.                                  Good luck...

i am in very similar situation. Was arrested at work this past Tuesday for forging prescriptions. My employer had pity on me and DA did not take me to jail ( well yet). They did follow me home to pick up remaining Rx pad that i admitted to having. I am waiting to be called with arrest warrent and then have to turn myself in. I found out while DA was questioning me that my husband was taking some of the Rx's and filling prescriptions without me knowing. We are both addicted to Vicodin. I have been taking 12-14 daily for at least 4-5 years. Started with pain for herniated disc. My husband was in car accident years ago and was taing over 25 daily. We have both lost our jobs this week. He had an outstanding warrant for an unpaid loan so was arrested on that while he was being questioned in regards to the prescriptions. I was told Tues by DA to act like i was leaving for work on Wed and DA would be by to question him. They had SWAT team surround our house ( neighbors called my 17 year old daughters cell). I have never been in trouble in my life either. We have 2 kids,  Our son is 8. I would never had imagined this nighmare has came true, i knew it was wrong and i would never go to pharmacy, my husband would fill or buy off the street.  We both are prescribed 120 a month from a physician and that usually only lasts less than a week. It has been 30 hours since I have taken a pill. This addiction has ruined my life. I now have no job, will surely lose my RMA license, no money coming in,  my eldest child is embarrased to go to school, l and AM going through withdrawls. I have a few pills left but refuse to take. Im so ashamed, confused and not sure what my next step is. My sister is paralegal and is going to try to find lawyer but I have no money. What money is left will only cover this months bills. Any advice from anyone?

I'm very sorry to hear what happened to you. I know the feeling of running out of Vicodin. But I completely agree with vicki595. If you've got a clean record I think you'll be okay. I can imagine how your mind is working in high-gear thinking about the impending court date. It's got to be hard for you to stay in the now and not worry. Accepting your present life's circumstances as they are, with the belief that the eventual result will work out is the only thing you can do right now, as hard as that is. But, I honestly think you'll be okay. It WILL work out.
Peace.

What state are you in who many did you forge it anyway possible I would try to hire a lawyer if not possible then as Viki said dais then go with a PD ...You have not been convicted of anything at this point therapy would be a great idea ....regardless of what you did that does not give your hubby the write to run around with other ladies you deserve better then that.

I think the public defender will do fine. You have a good case for yourself now because
you are in treatment. Just get documentation of everything you do including urine tests.  How many rx's did you forge? Were these from the dentist office? Is the dentist pressing charges?
July is far off and you haven't been convicted yet. Your innocent right now. I'd try to find another job and see what happens...
All the best~

Thank you all for your responses to my post,I go to court in July I was in jail for one day and I was let out without bond(Thank God) I plan on continuing outpatient therapy and go to NA meetings. I have an appointment coming up with a public defender..I do not know if I should try and get an attorney that will accept payments. I do not have a job anymore since March 2nd( the day I was arrested at work) I have 4 kids and a spouse that has turned his back on me and has blamed me for the downfall of the family. I do not know what to doin terms of working. Should I try and go back into the field I was in for 22 years?( Dental Assistant) or find something else? its kinda hard when dental is all I know. My husband says I messed up his way of living because I do not have an income coming in. I feel so helpless and guilty because i went that far. He is out all night and seeing different women saying he cannot be home because he is angry,so its more than this legal things I am facing. I am going to find a therapist to talk to,hopefully that will help....thank you all for listening..I am glad I found this forum..if not I do not know how I would be coping with this time in my life....

Sincerely,

Sorry for your troubles. Addiction can make you do things that you never dreamed you would do.

At this point, you can only look for leniency. I would do as Vicki said, I would also get a councilor and get tested for drugs as often as possible, to prove your clean.

You need a lawyer if you have been charged. Get yourself clean for yourself, be able to prove that you have your life together..

At the end of the day, whatever happens should only steel your resolve to avoid drugs..

hello : first of all i am so sorry about your back pain!! is your back pain gone? i certainly hope it is gone.

after the 7 refills were you still in pain and still suffering and couldn't get any more help? or did you become addicted?

sorry for all the personal questions.

i would also go to a private counselor/psychologist ... who could later be an expert whitness.
have you been summonsed? (sp?) or were you arrested? if so, your sentance has a lot to do w/luck of the draw. who the DA is and what their agenda is - what judge presides, if you go the jury route and so forth. please, take Vicki's advice and get yourself a Lawyer ASAP!! pay for one yourself if you are able. some lawyers will take payment plans!

best of luck to you. i hope you are feeling better and no longer in physical pain. be well

Oh dear...have you called a lawyer?  Were you arrested?  The laws are different in different states...
You have things in your favor:  first time,no priors,in and out pt. treatment,remorse...
Get to some NA meetings and get your visits documented.
How much clean time do you have?
