geting off klonopin

Hi everyone, I am on a couple anxiety meds I have struggled with panic disorder/ and social anxirty my whole life. I am on zoloft and klonopin 1mg twice a day My anxiety disorder is really regulated and i know live a very stable life My doc and I fel the zoloft has done the most for me and I dont plan on staying on Klon. for the rest of my life I dont want to be on a benzo forever I know there are some w/d's but Im not hangin onto this med like a security blanket, I have talked to alot of ppl that do. I take 2 one mg pills a day. My doctor has said he would do a slow taper down. I am well aware it cant be done cold turkey cuz of the seizures and all that. I would appreciate feedback form anyone who has experience with getting off klonopin. Thanks!

Klonopin is a slow onset/long lasting benzo unlike xanax and ativan...if ur dr is helping u with ur taper then u should be safe..I am sorry/well not really (:/ that i have no experience with benzo addiction but some here have..and i have read alot about it..lerned some thru posters here...a slow taper is the only way to go and u sound as if u have that under control....there is a great article on benzo tapers in the healh pages..many will drop down to a weaker benzo like valium, chlorazepate or librium in the last stages of their taper..the jump off..a slow process and unfortunately many drs do not know how to taper someone off benzos with the least amount of wds

The article in the health pages actually came from a well known English DR who specializes in benzo tapers...posters here have printed it and taken it to their dr to give them an idea on a benzo taper without alot of discomfort and has actually worked..and the dr was open to the info...not every dr knows how to do all of this addiction stuff..just cos they r a dr does not mean they r GOD...unfortunately some drs think they r GOD..but most know if they need a guide to sumpin they r not accustomed to doing

good luck to u...keep us posted...u seem as tho u want this/op;us u have a plan///more power to ya!
