ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
happiness after Oxy...

happiness after Oxy...

So hubby and I had a good talk this evening about how he felt on his oxy, why that lead to his relapse and trying to brainstorm how to help him find happiness without it.
He has always felt a little invinsable, but he understands the reasoning that the risks of tolerance building leading to taking the oxy in dangerous ways and quantities, withdrawl (withdrawal) issues to get off and anxiety and such problems to deal with coming off  are all far too negative of consequenses to have in exchange for his feeling of happiness.     anyway....

what he's missing is the confidence and enjoyment of being social and really nice to people and just feeling energized and happy when on oxy...  I've heard that addictions to things often need to be replaced by something else to effectively stop them... so has anyone found anything remotely helpful to replace the pills and get some happiness or satisfaction?  Open to any and all ideas.

Of course we need to find something for him that isn't deadly, isn't too expensive and isn't going to ruin his brain's natural chemisty.   I know it sounds like I'm asking for a 'chemical' answer - but really, just share with me - what did you replace your addiction with that made you feel happy again ???   anything???  just want to be able to share with hubby...   thanks everyone!

My x is the same way about confidence and enjoyment on having a regular life with oxys. He is really to himself and isn't very happy. Once he does the oxys he completely changes and has so much confidence.
I don't know the advice you need but I think you are a great person for your husband.
Take care

yes, it is a baby due date  - so any day now....   I know that will always bring happiness, just also wanting something just for him that he can find joy in and use to replace how the oxy made him feel.

Have a wonderful day, again where do you live?  I asked in another post, just not sure if you'll catch that one.
