My brother passed away in March of 08...since then we have received a toxicology report that stated he had .91mg/l of benzoylecgonine in his system and  .23mg/L Ecgonine Methyl Ester ....is it possible for this amount of cocaine to be in his system by smoking or snorting it....the ME would only say this is alot....for there to be no paraphernalia found....meaning where's the needle?  Please shed some light on the subject.....we've had zero closure and it's been a year....

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. All I know is that benzoylegonine is a metabolite for cocaine and I am not sure of the amount it takes to overdose on this drug, but I have a few times and I was not shooting it. My last overdose of cocaine came after a couple week binge in large amounts and i went in convulsions and to the ER in an ambulance. If you would like to talk, I will be on here for a bit. You have my deepest sypmpathy, this touched a nerve with me cause i know I almost lost my life to cocaine. Do you know how he was using this drug, was he shooting, snorting, smoking?

Oh and I wanted to add that cocaine overdoses can happen with small amounts, i guess it depends on the individual, tolerance, etc. I hope you find the closure you need and I would be more than happy to talk about this

It is most likely that he was smoking. That can be done easily with overlooked or disguised pipes.......or paraphanalia.  The cigarette lighter of a car will even work and is then stuffed back in the dash. A small piece of aluminum foil will work ...and then be crushed to pea size and overlooked. Its really hard to snort that amount.......its not hard to get that amount in your system by smoking.
