having a rough day

having a rough day

I don't know if it's w/d from being nicotine-free for 8 days or opiate-free for 9 days, but I really thought it would be better by now. I still have tightness in my chest, still have heart palps (milder of late though), I get headaches every day, and my brain feels like mush.

Don't get me wrong, I have NO desire right now to relapse, I just don't know why I'm not feeling significantly better by now. I really think it's the opiate w/ds ... don't ask why just a hunch.

Question: did anyone notice a marked improvement in "well-being" between day 7 and day XX? What day (XX) did you truly start to feel well again? Is XX = 14, 21, 1000, or what?

Man, that is a lot to quit nicotine and op's at the same time. I know I quit smoking after 25 years, 2 packs a day, and I felt rotten for about a week. The headaches and heart palps especially. Are you doing nicorette or nicotine patch to taper, or just c/t? I hope you feel better tomorro. I know when I quit it took about a week.

I bought a week's supply of patches for my morphine c/t w/d (I knew I wouldn't wanna smoke) and wore a patch on Day 1, then threw it away that night and said "f**k it!" and haven't had any nictone since (almost 8 days).

Are you saying you had heart palps when you quit smoking? I could've sworn that was from the morphine w/d!

Thanks for the support. I am feeling a bit better tonight anyway. I will keep posting on my progress as a resource to others. Thanks again!

It never hurts to check with your Dr. but when a person stops smoking it's not unusual to have heart palpatations, especially at night when you get in bed and start to relax. Good luck on your opiate w/d. It's a real demon.....Take Care....LS
