i have benn abusing xanax for about a year or so. i recently had a siezure about 4 days after running out. i was taking at least 10 to 15 a day btw. i never went to ER or told my doc about it. And now i have been tapering down from about 10 down to 3 over a one week period. Am i at risk of another seizure? And the the xanax seem to have stopped working all together since the seizure>>Craig

Hi Craig. Did I read right that u took 10 to 15 Xanax bars a day? If that's right you need help from a doctor to wean down. I realize you got some off the street like some of us but u can still get help from your dr. Go see them tomorrow and tell them exactly how much you're taking. As you stated earlier Xanax wd can cause siesures, coma and death. I'm not trying to scare you I just want you to get help. Xanax cannot be weaned off without a dr. Please call them, don't be embarrassed, or scared. Doctors have heard it all I promise and they can and will help you get this behind u safely.
Please don't get upset when u read things that you percieve as negative on here. People really r just trying to help. I think rich was just trying to get to exactly what you're dealing with. We can help if we can understand a bit better what exactly you're going through.
Good luck and please please please get in contact with your doctor or any doctor that will help you with a safe taper.

Craig---You've been taking approx. 20-30 mg of Xanax a day. That's a whopping amount. Xanax needs to be tapered down very slowly over a long period of time. At the rate you're going, you won't feel well and you're still at risk for a seizure. It really is best to see a doctor for a good taper program. We can't give taper advice on the forum;it can be dangerous.

If the xanax has stopped working, what are you high on now?  We are here to help and you definitely need it. By the way, your age states you are 83 years old! I know that you're 38 but that caused some confusion.

All the best!

Thanku both for your replies. The thing Im worried about is IVe been threw a million different anxiety  meds and xanax is the ONLY medicine that has worked for me> Im scared to death that he will completely take me off of them since i have been abusing them. I dont know what to do> I feel like Im going crazy! I really cant go to rehab because of work and not to mention my animals. I have no family or friends> I live like a hermit. I work come home and isolate.

Right now Im high on weed, it seems to help when Im detoxing> Ive used every type of drug (street and prescription) but now all I use is weed and xani...Sorry about the mix up on my bio,Ill try and fix it now:)  Have you ever heard of thr "aston manual" ? its supposed to be all about how to taper off of benzos. But iI have no ink in my printer to print it out atm. And I think the only way to get it is to print it out.
