try thomas recipe it helps
I'll tell from experience that the fentanyl patches are he11 to get off of. Fentanyl is 80 times stronger than morophine. You are far better off tapering off the Percs then to go fooling around with those crazy patches. Trust me, if you want to msg me I would be happy to talk with you about them.
I agree, need to focus on one thing at a time. If you have enough willpower, try to taper your pills. If you're taking 6 a day, go down to 5 a day. Stay there for 3-4 days, then go down to 4 a day for 3-4 days and so on. When you get down to 1 pill, next step would be 1/2 pill, then 1/4 pill, then crumb if you must. I never had the strength to taper. Always took my pills in handfuls.....Oh I'll start tomorrow, well tmrw never came. If you have someone you trust, have them dispurse your pills to you. tell them Under no circumstance should they give you more no matter how much you beg.
If tapering isn't going to work (as in my case), many many people just quit CT. Yes, you will be very sick for about 5-7 days with days 3-5 the worst, but then it's done....all over (the physical part anyway). Fatigue and the blues will linger for a while, but it feels so good to not be a slave to a damn pill! The xanax will help you get sleep during w/d. Once you have stopped the opiates, then work on the xanax. This med HAS to be tapered. Don't quit this one CT. Even the crumbs after splitting the pill can make a difference. Don't overwhelm yourself with everything at once. If you take a pain pill every 4 hours, try going 5....once you've hit 5, see if you can go 5 1/2. Baby Steps!! I'm obviously no pro at tapering but Avisg has some experience here and gives excellent advice. You can send her a message for more info.
Whatever you decide to do, read the thomas recipe and get whatever ingredients you can. The vitamins really help with the muscle aches and restless legs, and you won't have much of an appetite so whatever nutrients you can supplement the better. Get immodium. Don't want to be stuck in the middle of the night w/o any. You can do this okay? We are all here for you 100%.
One thing at a time ... you can try a taper on the Percs (say, 10% down weekly -- check with a Quack), and then deal with the Xanax.
If you've got ten days to hide, you could try stopping the Percs altogether. It hurts, but make sure you have friends around, see a Doktor, and this site is pretty darn good.
All the best
thank you for your support!!! how do I start to get off of the percocet? is cold turkey the best way to go? I really do not want to be on painkillers one more day of my life. I am als taking zanex to sleep... how do I go about getting off of both? please help! any advice I would be happy to listen and try. when I go to the doctor unfortunitly he just prescribes more and more pain killers telling me that I need to handle the pain now and the dependency later. the problem is that I really think my pain is becuase of the pain killers and not the accident I had itself.
thank you again for reading this and giving any help that you can
Welcome! After being on opiates for a long period of time most of us get whats called opiate induced pain (or perceived pain). I know it sounds crazy but when you try to quit or taper, along with w/d, your pain seems nearly unbearable. It is a psychological thing that the opiates do to our brains. Once you are able to get past that, say a week or two the pain diminishes substantially. Pretty unbelievable until you experience it yourself. If you really want off of them you need to be willing to endure an increase in pain (all over) until your brain can sense true and actual pain. Going to the fentanyl will increase your tolerance so you are wise to not go there. Talk to your doctor about a taper plan, read the health pages and stick w/us for support. YOU CAN DO THIS! It is an awful feeling to be controlled by pills and you don't have to live like this anymore.
welcome! as for me since i quit the pills i have next to no pain. if you want to quit make a plan. you can do this. check out the health pages here, lots of valuable info.
