This corex addiction is probably the worst of all addictions ! It surely messes up your life. While the initial high you get at the beginning is alluring, the prolonged use leads to acute depression and an attitude that "Hell, I care " . I am a prolonged user almost six years and I can tell you that there's nothing worse than Corex. I have even given it up for a period of six months but then I again fell into it at the slightest temptation such as feeling low on a day, feeling victimised and so on. The point is you will always remain vulnerable even when you give up ! So even as you try to be clean, remember that everyday you don't take the syrup is a big accomplishment you should be proud of. I tell you guys, tell it to yourself everyday "Enough is enough with this ****..and I got to do so many things in life". I have given up this **** now but ever so, I always tell myself " Bloody, you are a guy for heaven sake....act like one. " Damn,it's the law of nature to fight for your survival and giving up this **** is only the first step. GUYS, YOU ALL CAN DO IT - God damn, there's more beauty in life than this ****
I was addicted to a form of opium also. It's hard to withdraw but if you read the posts on the forum, go to past threads, you will gain a knowledge that I think is more than a lot of drs have. Best of luck
Hi, welcome.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Corex is a cough syrup sold by Pfizer Inc., a global pharmaceutical company. It is available in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and a few other South Asian countries. Corex is a prescribed medicine and can only be bought with a prescription from a general physician.
Its active ingredients are chlorpheniramine maleate and codeine phosphate.
Corex is one of the most commonly available over the counter drugs in India, and is used as a cheap and readily available substitute for Codeine.
Legally, Corex can only be obtained by a physician's prescription, but studies show that more than 90% of the product is sold without any prescription.
Corex is not generally a fatal drug substitute, unless taken in extremely high quantities. However, many side effects are common. Corex is known to cause short term memory loss, sleeplessness, tremors and spasms. Muscular pains and dehydration are other common side-effects.
Long term abuse leads to serious kidney damage. Corex has a high sugar content, and may be unsuitable for acute diabetic patients.
