I dont know what to do i am pregnant and hurt so bad i take about 1 to 2 morphin 30mg tabs a day and some time an oxy 30 i dont what to hurt me or the baby by going though with drawls and well my doctor wont give me anything but methodon what do i do and how bab will my with drawls be please help

I too took pain meds during my pregnancy but I was under the care of a high risk OB and pain management. I was on Norco for about 3 or 4 months of my pregnancy (2 10/350 tabs x6 hrs) and then got put on oxycodone total dose 80mg a day. When it was getting close to my due date we'd been weaning me down to about 20mg a day and 2 or 3 days before my son was born I tapered my dose down so that when he was born I'd gone over 24 hrs without pain meds (and it sucked) but my son was born fine, no withdrawals.

If the dr has you get on methadone then it should help you not only get off those meds but also help with withdrawals.

My son Mason (who I was pregnant with when I took the meds) was born healthy and he's a smart little guy already at 3 months, he's begun "playing" me (crying until I look at him then flashing me a huge gummy grin)

I have two kids I'm trying to get to bed so I can't write long, but you need to be good to yourself an not worry about things that hven't happened. First, don't stop ct - you could hurt the baby, opiates themselves won't hurt the baby, and the shock on your system could be worse than the opiates themselves. You do need to talk to a doctor and tell them because they know what to do. How far along are you? You can only safely taper in the 2nd trimester, and if not, you need to get good guidance, please don't be scared. I was on Tyleonol 3 and percocet with pregnancy #2 and I did manage to get to a point where I took it only when I needed, sometimes 1 pill every 2 days, but usually 1 pill a day. My baby was totally fine and never went through any withdrawals, and I told the nurses about any medication I was on. I had a support group and out of the 30 or so women, none of us heard of a baby being born sick or addicted when the mother was taking a small amount. Obviously, everyone is different, and my doctor told me that opiates were safe in smaller doses over shorter periods in pregnancy - believe me I did a lot of research - the one thing that most doctors will say is it is critical to have healthy habits and be in communication with a doctor. don't smoke, do not drink, eat well and rest but most of all don't panic or self diagnose. If your doctor prescribes the drugs to you, then your doctor is aware of the risks and you can start to plan a taper if it's early enough, even if it's to ease your mind and be assured the baby is not hurt. Addicted babies are almost too much to bear, and if it happens, they must know so they can treat the baby and ease its pain. Good luck, be good to yourself and don't beat yourself up. Just my experience, but I had a perfect little baby who is now 3 and unbelievably bright and advanced physically and mentally. I know how hard and painful my pregnancy was and I don't want to go through that again. You will do great!

Please taper off and do what is best for your baby.  I have a 1 year old and I will tell you that you will be forever guilty if anything you do affects that baby.  I already feel guilty for taking vicodin while prego and I did very little.  That little baby is going to be the love of your life and you need to do ANYTHING for him/her.  How far along are you?  Do you know the sex?  Why are you in so much pain?  I am sorry to hear about all of this as I know the torment you must be going through.  I know w/ds from methadone are BAD.  But I also know you cannot be taking morphine and oxy's when you are prego esp. in third trimester.  I also know you can't go cold turkey off of anything either.  Be very close with your dr. and trust him/her to decide what is best.  I am trying to get off rx opiates myself and all i think about is that beautiful little girl i have sleeping in the next room and it gives me all the reason i need to quit.  For me, I have decided  to go on Suboxone for as short a time as possble just to get away from the other ****.  I want to be clean.  I am also in pain every day, but the pain of hurting my little girl in any way is greater than any physical pain I could ever imagine.  I wish all the best to your little one and I hope you find a way, your way, the right way.  Good luck and if you need a friend, just reach out and write.
