After you detox and you no longer have insurance benefits for any rehab, what do you do?  My grandson just checked into a detox facility but cannot return to his home.  He is detoxing from oxy, valium, alcohol and was on a binge after 10 weeks clean.  I dont know what to do to help him without enabling him..any suggestions?  He is 18 last month so we dont get any info from detox facility.  We are near ne Philadelphia -

NA is free....most cities also have a mental health facility that offers counseling for addiction based on income

There's help out there- look into schalorships for treatment centers. There's lots all over this country, and they do offer help if you don't have the money. They're not going to offer it- YOU HAVE TO ASK!!! Florida has a great sober network, and a lot of treatment centers. Delray Beach, Florida has a lot of half way houses, and an amazing sober community. That's where I got sober, and it was a God send for me. I would get him out of Philly for a while. Search the web, and make some calls. NA is free, and is also a huge tool in remaining sober. I still  believe that changing people, places, and things (if able) makes a HUGE difference.

He has to get to meetings!  Without meetings, there's no support.  He should attach himself to a sponsor, someone who has been there.  Detoxing and going back out to the neighborhood are not good bedfellows.
