With clonidine you have to taper off of it .Is that what you have been trying ?

Clonidine really is an outdated medication as far as BP goes, most doctors only use it as a last resort. It does have other uses for helping with opiate withdrawals, I also have hypertension and use clonidine after I had tried other meds that didnt help my BP. I was previously on clonidine about 3yrs ago for over a year and didnt have any side effects when I switched over to lisinopril, but after it and others didnt work I was back on clonidine. I dont really see how not having clonidine could make you physically sick, I understand that it could affect your sleeping because it does cause some sedation for some. Best thing to do is talk to your doctor about how you should go about getting off of it, if isnt helping with your BP anymore. Main thing is to get your BP under control and if that takes another medication then that is what you need to do. Take Care!

I went to the doctor yesterday and my bp was 188 over 140, he immediately gave me a clonidine pill, and also a RX for it. I do not know if I should get it filled, becaue I have finally (hopefully for good) kicked my tramadol habit. I have never had high bp before I wonder if it has to do with quitting the trams. Of course I did not want to ask my doc this.I think I will post avisg and ask her.
