Ohhh I so understand shoulder pain I am dealing with it right now mine comes and goes .
ice really does help heat helped me too .I would go to bed at night with the heating pad on my shoulder.
You can ask about toradol as GA guy suggested They don't like giving the oral form out for more then a week .(At least around here) I find it to be very effective if your doctor would agree to prescribe it .
You can ask about Toradol. Non-narcotic and non-addictive.
Sheryl is right.Often adding an antihistamine to a pain reliever makes the pain reliever a bit more potent. It also helps sleep.Tylenol pm may be a tad better than tylenol or take otc percogesic which also contains an antihistamine with tylenol.Sorry about your pain, but boy this is a true test of your determination.
yeah i got those yesterday, but they not helping this at all
My husband uses Flector Patches. They are non narcotic patches prescribed by your doctor and are AMAZING for pain. I am on subutex now and I when I had to actually start dealing with my pain again he gave me one and it worked wonderfully. Hope this helps.
I was first getting clean and in pain too, I called my doctor and threatened to "use" (stupid i know, still manipulating then), but she recommended I take OTC benadryl. I laughed and said, "i'm a heroin addict for crying out loud" - I took her advice and the benadryl took the edge off, allowed the IBU 800's to work and turn my "addict thinking" off......I was totally amazed.
Good luck to you
Don't use!!!!!
funny you would ask......never underestmate the power of paint thiner and boiling water.....haha
Hey Lee
I can't give you information on OTC medications in the US so hopefully I'll just make you laugh-Did you get that darn sink unblocked-- Love Denise
Yea man just keep that ice on it thats most important! You are doing all you really can do to help with the pain. Make sure you sling up your arm and keep it elevated as much as possible and just rest it. Stay strong man! Much love
Dallas
thanks everyone, sounds like i am doing everything rite, so i guess all thats left is to give it some time. I hav to get a M.R.I. in the morning
Motrin and tylenol will be the best right now along with rest and time.......Hope you get better Lee Take care of yourself. sara
lee... i've had shoulder and neck and back problems my entire life... you need to move it and strech it if that hurts BAD then stop and keep it completely immobil (maybe even a sling). Different injuries require differnet methods of making it feel better but one of the 2 should help.
I would suggest continuing to use ice packs -- and not just the manufactured stuff, but the actual bags in an ice. It does wonders for me.
I suffered a broken rib and a collapsed lung last year, and that's how I was introduced to Percocets. It may be different for everyone, but the pain just never went away with the Percocets (and this was the FIRST time I had EVER used Opiates).
What really helped was just TIME. That's all I can say. Our bodies are fully equipped to deal with boos and injuries, or else those who are/were intolerant to pain would have been naturally selected out via the evolutionary process.
Off my soap box
If you really want some sort of OTC medication, I would really suggest Advil in moderate doses.
Also, not to preach or anything, but what it sounds like is you have some sort of pulled/strained muscle, and quite honestly as a former collegiate athlete.... those maladies were usually treated with ice, heat, and NO painkillers (prescription or OTC). You'll be surprised how quickly your strained/pulled shoulder will heal itself without ever ingesting a single pill.
Just rest, rest, rest. The pain will go away on its own.
Did you have a MRI? Took the 8 weeks to find a torn cuff on my mom.
Sound like you are doing everything right. Is it in a sling?
Sounds to me youre doing all you can. Injury takes some time to heal. Especialy the shoulder. You are going to have to take it easy for a while!
