how do i taper of xanax with klonapin?

Hi:)  the doc sent me a script last night of klonipin (klonopin) to help me wean off of xanax, cux its been way to hard to taper off by itself.  but i want to start today and he didnt tell me how to do it and i know that i wont get to speak to him till tonight. if i take both at the same time i will prob sleep all day, so i know that cant happen. does anyone know how to do this?  i take 3 mgs xanax in morning   and 3mgs xanax in afternoon.  about 4 hours later it starts to wear off and i feel very edgy and then it just gets worse from there.  is this when i take the klonapin??? cuz it lasts longer?? please help i really want off this stuff and i do have a really good doc....he knows also that the klonapin willl only be used to wean me off xanax and then he'll wean me off the klonapin by itself cuz he says its very east to wean off of.

boy hun...i am not sure of this...you really need to ask your doctor, because they are basically the same drug, but klonipin (klonopin) just last longer, so i dont dare answer...you really need to talk to your doctor about this...or call his office maybe the nurse can ask him and relay the message to him? i am sorry i am of no help...

VERY CAREFULLY, if you can do so with the help of a Dr. I would reccommend it, as the w.d from xanax can be life threatening. Please be careful. I do not mean to scare you at all, as it also depends on your daily dosage and lenth of time on xanax. But from what I am told, you can have seizures. So please be careful and wean down to as little as possible...

I agree with all the posts above.  Xanax has to be carefully monitored by your dr. when you are weaning off of it.  And...that's a pretty hefty dose you are taking.  Please call your dr. before you change anything.  I was on Xanax for over 10 years and did taper off, but it took months, and dr. supervision.

Several years ago I stopped taking xanax and I had a seizure a few days later. I had never had a seizure before. I was in my truck and thank god someone else was driving or I would have been dead.
