As far as I know, not everyone cries or gets depressed. But emotional disturbance is normal. My reaction was numbness, then rage. Because my kids are in school or at work, and I'm job searching right now, I was able to be alone during the day.
Extra rest was needed. I napped for about five days, each day needing less. Adding self care will help. I took the advice others on here gave. Epsom salt baths, protein shake supplements, vitamins, and I took Motrin for aches and for first 3 days Immidium for bathroom issues. I also have been seeing my old counselor.
Physically all this helped, but I think the greater lesson is learning to care for myself.
I am a woman that cries. I was surprised at the rage. Whatever the emotional state, it will pass with time and I think, self care. It has been a difficult transition for me to H.A.L.T. If I'm Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired...stop and take care of these basics.
Dunno if sharing this helps, that's just my take. Keep going... you're worth a complete recovery and we're all here for you.
i havent used the thomas recipe all ive used was tylenol 4 for the first couple days and ativan to help me sleep thats it
Hello Hazel, Sorry to hear about your symptoms. I went thru Hydrocodone withdrawal and had temporary bouts of depression myself. It's all part of the WD side effects and it will go away fairly soon. 5 days into your detox, you should start feeling the WD effects going away. The better sleep gets for you the better your spirits get. I trust you've been using the items in the Thomas Recipe in the lower right of this page? They really help with WD. Congratulations on being clean for 5 days! Every day it gets better and better!
Congrats on 5 days and being able to feel again! The tears are very healing so let yourself cry. It is okay to do that. We numbed our emotions up for so long and we forget we have them. Try and get outside if the sun is shining. It does wonders for our depression. This will ease up too. You are doing great so keep going!
