how long will this last

how long will this last

I have been taking oxycontin for the last 2 years about 7-10 80 mg pills each day and I am on day 3 of being clean cold turkey. It has taken me four days to cut down before i went cold turkey the last day i only took a 1/4 of an 80 just to cut back on the withdraws but i haven't slept in the last 3 nights and i can only get maybe one more week off work without causing any problems and I just need to know how long before i start to sleep at night again even if just a few hours. I am also looking for any advice on how to help speed things up if it's at all possible.

Scroll down on this page to a box on the right about most viewed health health pages and click on the "Thomas recipe", it will give you a proven list of nutrients to help your body rebuild. First, you need to get the opiates out of you, which will take at least 4-5 days, but you can help yourself by drinking lots of clear liquids. Water, and many like gatorade, it has electrolytes in it to help you rebuild your brain and body. The whey protein powder at walmart is helpful, the chocolate goes down easy and has lots of proteins in it, again to help you rebuild what's been damaged. You are doing well already by what I've read here, that is a big jump. Sleep for me was real tough for at least a week, but you do have time enough to get much better than you are right now. It might have been helpful if your dr. was on board? Going through wd's is pretty crazy and no one describes it as any fun at all. You probably will have many different symptoms, sweating, shaking, pains you didn't know were possible. You really should have some "immodium" close by in case you get diarhea (diarrhea), it also helps a lot with stomach distress. You can take Motrin "ibuprofen" 800 mg's 3 times a day for pain if your not taking any other type of medication, including over the counter. Hang in there, remember to keep pushing the fluids to help your body out, give it time. Exercise helps alot, distractions so you arn't just whiteknuckling it, keep reading here for lots of advice and keep posting, You might be more than half way through the tough part.

HI Coming off that large amount has had to be difucult to say the least but you seam to be doing fine if sleep is all thats bothering you.....sleep is the last thing to come back and will return slowly but it does come back you may try some melatonin and a completely dark room for it to work theres a mental side to this thing thats going to hit you like a freight train you need to get involved with some sort of aftercare or it wont be long anf youll be doing the 80s again as addicts we need to change the very way we think to recover....I agree with petroglyph
about the things that will speed this up but ultimately time and God hels you hang in there and post often for support theres a lot more to this then detoxing....thats the ez part.....Gnarly
