My sister has systemic lupus and takes about 12 medications each month supposedly to stay alive, she is also on narcotics and xanax,Now,they have
her on Benlysta at $30,000 a year steroid knee shots at $3300 a pop.If
people think a Jewish doctor is expensive just go and see a Morman doctor!
My question is I know a doctor who cleanses intravenously would this combined with perhaps hemp be a better route for her! Please help she is my baby sister and all I have left.

Hi Kelli,
I too, like you, was on a pretty low dose but it didn't seem to me to be any easier to detox than others who were on higher doses. It's all addiction, no matter how much you're taking. Please read the advice I posted here for 'backtomyselfsomeday'. It explain just how I managed to get off the Hydro's that I was taking for pain too (in the beginning anyway!). I hope that will help you a little, I tapered off of them, I didn't do the cold turkey way. I couldn't handle that even on such a low dose.
Good luck with your journey back to being clean again! It's worth all the horrid things you might go through, but I truly believe that tapering is the best way for a lot of people. I couldn't do cold turkey, no way! But I COULD taper, and that worked for me in just 2-3 weeks. I was completely CLEAN in two weeks time, still have cravings now and then, but I'm CLEAN!! Hope this helps a little. Please read my post though. I think it might help you out a little.
Take care, be good to yourself during this time, it's hard, but worth it!
God bless.

WoW! Cold turkey with that kind of addiction is pretty daunting, I can't imagine. When I detoxed I was on a really low dose to begin with so it wasn't as bad as a lot of people here. But I took the "tapering" route instead of cold turkey. I found that much easier to deal with. I just couldn't STOP and believe me you'd probably laugh if you knew how low my doses were. I was taking the 10/325's for almost 9 months so I thought with the low dose and relatively short amount of time I was on Hydro's it would be pretty easy....NOT SO!! To me, I think I felt every bit as awful as those of you that are on high doses - I really don't see it as much different, for me anyway. The first 3 days were THE WORST, but then I settled into my routine Luckily I had my Valiums and my nightly "one hit of the pipe" of medical MJ and that helped a LOT. I took a lot of Tylenol too, as per the recommended dose - I had read that the Tylenol sort of 'fools' your mind/body into thinking it's getting something because the Hydro has Tylenol in it too! It worked for me. It only took me two weeks of tapering off and by the third week I was OFF AND CLEAN!! Had some cravings and still do on a rare occasion, but I'm sssooo over it now! It's not even worth thinking about! Still, I swore and still do that I will NEVER EVER take that drug again. I know some people really do need pain killers, but when I found myself grabbing for the little pills when I didn't even really need one, I said ENOUGH!! And that was the beginning of taking my life back! That was 3 weeks ago as of this Sunday, July 26th! I am so grateful to be off of that garbage, you couldn't FORCE one of them down my throat! I did a LOT of praying, that helps me get through. I honestly don't know if I could have done it without Jesus' hand on my shoulder every step of the way. I know it sounds corny but I'm just being honest. I figure if it helps then DO IT! I also watched a bunch of youtube videos made by people like us who were or had gone through detoxing off this stuff and that helped me a LOT too. It's always nice to know YOU'RE NOT ALONE IN THIS! You can do this! I know you can! Nobody said it was gonna be easy and it isn't, but it's WORTH IT! Especially for your child too, but more importantly FOR YOURSELF! I wish you all good things on your road to recovery and hope that you get through this soon. My last bit of advice is this. When I was feeling bad and being hard on myself, I'd catch myself and stop that train of thought! One thing I read that stuck with me was this comment, "This is not a race to the finish, it's a sprint to the end!", so don't put too many limits on yourself cause to me that's like setting yourself up to fail. Love yourself, be good to yourself as you go through this. And once you're in the clear and CLEAN you will have your life back again! I hope this helps. God bless you! :)

I have been addicted to hydrocodone, narco, Percocet, oxyicodine, and soma for approximately 17 years.  It has grown over the past years from 6 a day to 30 a day.  I have tried to quit cold turkey so many times.  Last year I decided to do the suboxene.  Trying to get off the suboxene was worse than taking the lorcet and lortabs.  I take as much as 7 to 8 pills at one time.  I feel so embarrassed by what I have gotten into.  I have begged, borrowed and stole what I needed.  I'm at the point now where I don't know if the physical pain or the mental pain is the worse.  I feel so out of control and don't know how to stop myself.  I WANT TO BEAT THIS PROBLEM WITH EMBARRASING MYSELF AGAIN.  I want to know that there is hope for me.  Each day that I try to get through 1 day, the withdrawals are so bad that I somehow find the lorcet 10 - 7.5 all over again.  I tried on yesterday  to begin the journey and I couldn't even make it one day before I found some lorcet to take.  Please tell me that it's really not too late for me.  I sincerely want to kick this addition.  This is so hard.  It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my 51 years of life.  Help!!

I am two days from being out of my Vicodin's and would really love to stop taken them. I'm scared for the detox from them. I have been on them for a good year now. Taken about 6-8 a day. I have never really had a problem before with stopping but this time is the longest I've been on them and I know when I run out to fast I get leg cramps. How long does the wd's last?

That's amazing! 413 days is a long time, expecially considering where i'm at now. Have you had a lot of support from family and friends, or basically really on meetings and counseling? How hard has it been? I would just knid of like to know what I may be in for , for the long haul. How are you doing now? Do you still get a lot of cravings?
One thing I have going for me, is that I'm around NOBODY at all that uses, or has any idea that I have. Just being around  an enviroment that's so positive and drug free should help me a lot. Also I am widowed nad my son is full grown with a family of his own. My only family obligations are helping take care of my elderly parents, as I'm the only child they have that lives close to them.
God bless You! I hope you stay happy and in your recovered state for the rest of your life

Hi and Welcome,

Check the Health Pages here. There is some very informative material there regarding supplements and home remedies you can take to help ease the withdrawal a bit and get your health back. Check out the Thomal Recipe. You can get most of what it calls for right at wal-mart or your local GNC or other vitamin store.

After you get through the physical detox, make sure you line up some aftercare for yourself. An addiction counselor and nn/na meetings would be great. At least the meetings though because they are free. No excuses there. You can not do this alone. That would be almost impossible in the long run. Take all of the help you can get to give yourself the best possible chance at long term sobriety.

Also, make sure you eat well and get some exercise. I know this will feel impossible at first but it's a must. It will get those endorphins pumping in your brain which will do you worlds of good as far as how you feel. It will also help you sleep a bit better at night and we all know sleep can be elusive during the withdrawals.

I hope this helps. And remember you can get tons of support here as well. Very knowledgeable people here who have been through this. Most of us more than once.

We are here for you. It will be okay. Keep posting...........

I'm on day 5, soon to be 6 of a 20 pill a day problem. I did it cold turkey, and it sucked for a few days, but you just have to do it. There's no easy way, trust me. Even if you went the hospital route, you'd have to kick suboxone later.
Best advice is, check out the Thomas Recipe on here! It truly will help you get thru this.
Best of luck, and feel free to reach out to me.
