how to taper of pailkillers

I have been taking 30/500 co codomol 2 tablets 4 times a day for ten years , i am now addicted to them and have started getting migraines up to twice a week , which i have read this can happen , i dont feel i can go and ask my doctor how to come of them , even though she has had them on my repeat all this time , i just really would like to know how to safely come of them . Would also like to know if any one else relates to my question .

Please think more about speaking with your doctor. She could help you here. In the meantime, the secret to tapering is slowly dropping  a small amount over time. That's it.   It could take awhile but it's worth it! Be sure you're eating well and taking in plenty of fluid.

We can't give tapering schedules on this forum.  It is against the rules.  Your dr could help you with tapering and give you some non addictive meds that can help with the withdrawal symptoms.  Why don't you feel you can tell your doctor?  Many people here can relate to your question.  Many of us have been thru what you are going thru.  I tapered off of Vicodin.  Welcome to the forum.  You have come to the right place.  Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
