hydrocodone withdrawal help

I've been on opiates for pain for about 10 years. My most recent prescription was for Norco 10/325, one every four hours. Over the past few weeks, I've weaned down to 15mg per day and today I'm trying just 10mg. After a couple days I plan to try 5mg per day for a couple of days and then stop. I've been through withdrawal b4 and it's lasted as long as 2 weeks. I've already started using the Thomas recipe. Also, I'm already feeling so bad I've had to take some tme off work. How long will I be sick?

I did the taper route as well and it really worked for me. My stomach was really bothering me a lot during the taper and for about a week afterwards, I needed the immodium. I hope you feel better soon and I wish you the best of luck!

Stick in there that little baby girl will make it seem more worth it. I have a  new granddaughter Laney Sue and she is 21 days old. She is precious.

For me personally tapering off is best. But don't let if fool you, things can still get bad. I went off somas and vics first, I felt terrible like bad case of flu. It lingered and lingered. Then I decided to go off of ativan and halcion. I was sleeping but just not as many hours a night. then recently I went off of elavil, and trazadone. I am really having insomnia now. I don't think my nausea is going away none to soon. I still felt dope sick after 4 mos. and went on suboxone. Now wondering if that was right choice.

Glad your here and facing your addiction problems. You are far from all alone and you can get lots of support here and lots of ideas of how to deal with different things that come up. I am here a lot just reading these people are fascinating and strong. I get a lot of info here that I have found very helpful.

Sounds familiar. Physical therapy or the chiropractor didn't work for me either. I only wish I had access to a Jacuzzi but will have to make do with hot showers. I hope to be able to sleep through the worst of it but I'm already waking up with cold sweats every morning. I know I have to do this. I don't have a choice. I can't afford it in more ways than one. I'm going through the worst financial time of my life and am expecting my first grandchild, a baby girl. She will be born in no more than a few weeks, maybe sooner, and I want to be over this completlely by then.

WOW..you just told my story. I too have several herniated disks, DDD, arthritis and sciatica. I know the pain, boy do I know the pain!

Some things that worked for me: I had surgery which really did help but since having it I had an accident and all the reconstruction went out the window. Physical therapy did not work and neither did a Chiropractor. Aqua therapy is very helpful as it is non-resistant. If you are able to get it, give it a try. It is amazing how relaxing it is. I have a Jacuzzi on my back deck which I use quite often. The hot and swirling water helps quite a bit. I also use a Hydrocolator which you can purchase online at a medical supply store. It is basically a large moist heating pad and it is like a friend to me most days. Basically, I have had to change my lifestyle and a lot of things I used to do that involve physical activity. It is still a small price to pay not to be chained to those darn pills everyday. Some days are worse than others and I know when I have to lay down or stop what I am doing. I also take Aleve when the pain becomes intolerable. I am prescribed muscle relaxers but I am petrified I will get addicted to them so I do avoid them.

I honestly hope you find relief from the pain and will be able to go forward.

I have chronic severe degenerative disc disease and arthritis. This is complicated by a couple of bad falls and a car accident I was in and have torn and herniated discs, L-4 and 5. I also have pinched nerve in my neck and sciatic nerve pain that shoots down both legs. I also suffer from depression but do not take medicine for that. I did for years and then suffered a severe emotional trauma. I was so full of Lexapro that I couldn’t cry, as bad as I needed to. Since then I refuse to take any of that ****.

So far, it hasn't been too bad, but i know once I'm on zero hydro, i'm gonna feel rough. I just hope this tapering thing helps. And the Thomas recipe. I spent a good bit of money of a good mult-vitamin, multi-mineral complex and vitamin b-6. L-Tyrosine I had to get at the health food store. I have Xanax b/c I see a doctor for panic attacks. I've had to go cold turkey before but it's been a few years and it was horrible. I will definitely keep posting. I know it's gonna get worse before it gets better, but it will get better. I just have to find other ways to deal with the pain.

No, you are not alone. Near every member here has gone through or is going through withdrawal. I was curious how you knew about the recipe because I never heard of it until I came here. I personally have not used it so I can only share that others have found it useful. Also, if you go to the top right of this page you will see the health pages. In there you will find The Amino Acid Protocol. Again, I never used it but have heard good things.

When you begin with symptoms, talk to us and we can share our experiences with how we dealt with each of them.

Whatever you do, hang on and don't give up. It is a few days of being uncomfortable to be rid of the monkey. It is worth it!

I've been reading online about hydrocodone withdrawal and googled withdrawing from hydrocodone and todays date. So yes, this is the first time I've posted. Thank you for your reply. It does help to know I'm not alone.

Hi,

It would near impossible to tell you how long your withdrawal will last. Everyone is different. Some it takes 4 to 5 days, others a week, others longer.

Curious, this is your first post? How did you know about The Thomas Recipe?
