hydrocodone withdrawl

i am currently on day 3 of hydrocodone withdrawl. I am feeling very agitated. If I could get some I would. how long does the withdrawl last. Any time I experience any physical pain or sickness I find ways to get perscriptions knowing I will abuse them. I have been exhibiting this behavior for 20 years. I want to live and not die. I have also abused benzodiazepines at times. any words of wisdom will be appreciated. Thanks

Even if you "fall off the wagon" try to remember this. Pain killers are not gonna fix your pain. They cover it up as you probably know. I can only speak for myself but others have had similar experiences. I trusted my pain management doctor and he failed. Like a lot of them out there he didn't tell me anything about dependensy and withdrawls. When I went into that place I felt like a criminal lol. Signs of threats on the walls and doors "drug screen failure is imidiate discharge" "all scripts must be filled at xxx" No info on opiates or pain management. The doctor kept cutting my meds back even when I told him that was making it far worse. The only reason he did anything was because he is in fear of DEA and the State Board of Medical Examiners so he makes up ******** to me about why and ect. I have wanted to tell him I wanted off the meds for a long time but kept my mouth shut in fear of him dismissing me from the clinic and leaving me w/o meds. Well today is 3rd day after 5 crappy years. I have tryed before but ended up finding pills before the 1 day mark. I'm done with these pills. My neighbor asked me if I wanted a percocet and I was like **** no! I told him I'm getting off the pills. I don't think the ol man really understands what I am going through like most don't. DON'T FEEL ALONE AND DON'T BLAME YOURSELF!      WE ALL WANT TO BE SAVED FROM DAMNED DR. DRUGS! GOOD LUCK

Even if you go back to them just remember you are not alone! I think amazing things are possible when we put our minds to it.

I felt I was all alone the only one going through this. Its a little more comforting knowing I am not unique other people are going through the same type of thing. Addiction is a monster. opitaes produced such a great high, however its fake. If it is such a friend why are we all trying to get off of this? Gonna take a hot shower for the withdrawls.lol. thanks

I think day 3 was my worst day.  Hang in there.  I'm about 11 days off hydrocodone today.  You seem to know what you need to do, and the most important thing right now is to find ways to stay away from the opiates.  Call your doctor or local pain management specialist, be honest about your situation, and get some support there.  He can help with meds and suggestions to help you get you through this.  Ask about Clonidine for the cravings and Ambien for help sleeping at night.  Since you have a chronic condition you need pain medicine for, perhaps the pain management specialist can give you a NON-opiate to help.  I find that I crave the medicine most now out of habit.  I think about taking at times when I was used to taking it.  Staying busy and keeping your mind occupied with other things may help, but do things that aren't part of your regular routine since the meds were part of your old routine.

I cant figure out why I continue to return to perscription drugs after proving to myself time and time again it causes nothing but problems. I have a chronic sinus problem and have had 4 surgeries. Every time I have went back to hydrocodone was because of being sick with this. I generally stay clean until I face being sick with this. it seems my defense is down during these times.  any suggestions out there.

i drink warm water FIRST THING in morning with fresh lemon juice.  It is the first thing that hits your system, and I notice it works too.  Also, you lose alot of electrolytes, which gatorade has, but also "Smartwater", not sure abt vitamin water.  The detox is sucking nutrients from body and brain, so a multi-vitamin is good.  They hurt my stomach though....  I am on day 1.5 of cold turkey.  Getting through....  GOOD LUCK

It very important for you to find some aftercare whether it meetings or counseling you are going to need sometime the mental cravings can get really bad .Especially in the beginning .Hang in there you can do it but its very hard to do it on your own.

I abused both for years I'm onto my 3rd Wk.
It almost sounds like you already have made up your mind to relapse and day 3 for me is always like day 1 for me (I know this because I relapse, on purpose since we obviously know the outcome)
I hope you can stay strong you wouldn't have gotten on here if you weren't needing to hear DON'T DO IT! If its going on 20+/- you know the drill. Stick to it! You're almost over that hump/slump
I read on here lemon water so I got a bottle of lemon juice (lemon looking container, any grocery store) & drank water bottle after water bottle (DOWN IT)
I can't even begin to explain how quickly I noticed a difference.
You can do this, if you want to!
Keep up your will power and strength! Why go through the worst part of w/D's just to start over after 3 days?
