i was supposed to start at the methondone clinic today but i didnt go. i havent been taking pills like i was i mean ive been taking them everyday but not as much as i was taking. so i figured if ima get off now is the  time while im not taking alot like i was. i was going to go on methodone but thought ,why? then it will control my life and it will even be harder to stop when i want and if i dont like the w/d i have now then i know i want like the w/d ima have getting off methodone. i was scared to get on the methodone because i know its really hard to get off . id go from a 5 day w/d to a 6 week w/d and that dont sound fun at all hell this aint fun so i think i made the right decision what do yall think.

Indeed you did make the right decision, but look at the big picture as addiction does'nt go away after the withdrawals process, theirs allot more to it, in fact the withdrawals are the easy part for most, it is life after drug use that is the real hard part. Good Luck & Congrats     Penelope

YES YES YES YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so happy you made the decision not to do it. I wish I would have been that wise, and done as you are trying to do,get help with stopping the pills, and not added another, much harder to get off of drug, to the equation.Jessie is right,it's much like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.I'm so proud of your decision.I am always so relived when I hear that someone who has an addiction to pills opts not to go the methadone route...Good for you!!!!!!!!!! Keep posting because we're all here to help you free yourself from those pills..YOU CAN DO THIS..All the best...KIm

I think u r very smart..many onl7y6 see the short term and u r looking at the long term...my dad always says that is a sign of "maturity"    I have thought about methadone due to chronic pain and not really for addiction as my tolerence is high and i never got a true "buzz" off methadone as i have taken it here and there for pain short term onlyso i am like"I wont abuse this"...but i am scared..too scared...then a friend of mine who has een on 20-30 mg for a few months tried to quit and BOOM...she is addicted..not from a clinic but from a doctor..she has a history of addiction like i do....she tried sub and it gave her HAs and so he put her on methadone..he is not weaning her off and she is freaking....a doctor can not prescribe methadone here for addiction///only chronic pain/or pain...as it is federally regulated..that is one of the attractions of sub is u aoid the clinic atmosphere...but she is not a true chronic pain patient and he will stop prescribing soon as it will be his rear end if he got caught...i guess beefing up the pain issue in her chart to continue prescribing to her is an option but most doctors will not put their license on the line..and i cant say i blame them

ANYWHO..LOL...point is..u will suffer eventually..and like u said..go on and get it over with!

RIGHT CHOICE. I withdrew from heroin a couple weeks ago and it was five days before I started feeling better. my friend, a couple years ago, chose to get on methadone (well, conned, I'd rather say) and she was stuck on it for months. and eventually, just went right back to heroin. you really just have to put your head down and trudge through the withdrawals. get through it. I AM 17 DAYS SOBER TODAY! IT IS WORTH IT AND IT IS AMAZING TO BE SOBER. You must remember what its like before you started using. You can get that back! You can be normal without a drug! you are not stuck forever! withdrawals do not last forever!

Much luck!

NO METHADONE, PLEASE..   i understand it saved herein addicts lives, but in my opinion, you jump from the frying pan into the oven when you switch from oxy to methadone. it's what i did, and every single day i wish i hadn't.. you wouldn't believe how hard it is to quit methadone, almost impossible!  (again, just an opinion), don't want to start a war.

So good to see you post again Bulldog --- I have watched with interest as you have struggled with the drugs.   I really do believe you will make it but you have learned (are learning) the hard way.   I know you want your wife to come back but you know that she must see a real change first.   Quitting does not depend on the will power you have been trying to muster up---- You will first have to cut off your supply, find someone to be accountable to, be willing to go through the detox period --- these are all very difficult things to do but you really do have the inner strength to do them ---  On the other hand some really need to hit the bottom of the pit first --- before they can start the long climb out.  Some, of course, never make it and OD and die.  Man, you have too much to live for.  Please Bulldog - keep posting and seeking help -- go to meetings -- go to in-patient rehab-- whatever you need to do to get off the drugs.  Methadone is the last resort and you are right -- it creates a new addiction that is so much harder than the pain pills to get off of.  Same with Sub ---  There is NO easy way, but it is doable ---- Hey Bulldog -- we are all pulling for you, man.  Choose Life.  All the best
