I see. I guess that could explain my nausea and funny feeling stomach. I'm always anxious so it may just be the stomach issues I'm having causing me more anxiety.
Immodium has an opiate in it called loperamide. But unlike most opiates, it has very little to no effect on the central nervous system (does not cross the blood-brain barrier). Instead it has a strong action on the opioid receptors located along the GI tract.
That's what I thought was going to happen, having a rebound effect but I haven't had any bathroom emergencies since not taking...just some mild what I feel like are withdrawals. I have nausea..but I feel hungry I just haven't been able to eat because I constantly feel like I'm going to puke, headache, anxiety, and slight fatigue. I've read online that it can mimic opiate withdrawals but other sites said no withdrawals so I'm confused.
You need to be careful with taking immodium over a prolonged period as it can change the smooth muscles in your intestines and actually make your problem worse.
It does say that but that's because if you're having diarrhea for longer than that you need to be checked by a doc, which I was and unfortunately it took almost 7 months to give me a diagnosis. So I had to take it regularly or else I wouldn't have been able to work or have much of a life at all because I wouldve constantly been in the bathroom.
dosnt it say on the box dont take for more than 2 weeks? mine dose :P so maybe thats y
