Congrats if your are PG, but stop now before you end up like us!

I can tell you that taking hydrocodone while pregnant will not cause birth defects. I am 8 weeks pregnant and am 12 days clean from the hydro. I was taking 15-20 10mg a day when I found out I was 4/5 weeks pregnant and I freaked out!!! I quickly cut down to 5 a day, tapered and then quit. I discussed this with my OB and he said not to worry it won't do anything to the baby. Their concern is taking them throughout the pregnancy and the baby being born addicted. This is very possible and the baby will experience W/D's the same as you and I for one could not do that to my child. I can't even go C/T, the pain is unbearable to me so I couldn't imagine doing that to my child. My OB also said do not take more than 5 a day, not sure if he made that up, but too much acetaminophen can cause miscarriage, and so can C/T. If you are able to go C/T without the W/D I would suggest doing that but if not talk to your doc and work out a taper method. Good luck! And congrats!

I took loratabs for most of my pregnancy perscribed by my obgyn.  I also know a few other co-workers that did as well, I was serving cocktails while pregnant with back problems, although he did not perscib as much in the first tri-mester as he did the second and third.  Thank-fully the baby tuned out just fine she 2 and a half now and as smart as a whip.. Just as long as you follow your obgyns orders I am sure you will be fine.  Have a good day, Huggs, G
