is suboxone for me?

is suboxone for me?

hi there. i take 660mg of dihydrocodeine daily, have for ablut 9 months now. it is the long acting type. it just isn't strong enough, i am considering asking my doctor about suboxone, is my dose of DHC high? i don't like taking 11 pills a day, especially when it is not really doing the job it is supposed to - sometimes it helps keep the withdrawls at bay,  most of the time it doesn't.   thanks

Are you wanting to stop taking pain meds for good?
Do you take more dihydrodoeine than prescribed?
Do you take it for other reasons than just for pain?
If so, have you ever tried to quit?
Have you talked to your doctor about tapering off the dihydrocodeine?
What is the main reason you're considering suboxone?

I'm not sure if your dose is considered a high dose. I'm not familiar with dihydrocodeine and how it is normally prescribed.

Hello,

As per bmdad above, need some more background to really comment.  I will likely advise you to stay away from the Sub unless you are planning to use it for a quick (21 Day) detox.

I would rather CT from voluminous amounts of Heroin than Sub.  Been there and done both.

I agree with wolfmedicine.  From watching my daughter, I would not recommend Suboxone for long term.  If it will get you off the drug you are currently on and you know you will only be on it short term, then yes.  Suboxone made my daughter's life normal, (Fentyl patch for 3-5 yrs) but she has been going through withdrawals for 16 days today from Suboxone.  It has been hard to watch.

Hello Hugh,

I am day 35 now and I'm OK.  I'm still a bit fragile mentally and sleep about four hours nightly but I'm not worse for wear from it.  I'm happy to be done with it.
