I would go and talk with your doctor. You are on a high dose and tapering would be the best thing. You would be able to function much better going this route. Do you have someone that could hold the pills for you and dole them out?
Ive been addicted for 17 years to oxys. The warning I want to give you here is you have an addiction. its medically considered a disease. you will have cravings, thoughts and dreams even a long time after use. you need to seek professional help.
There is no easy around unless you are one lucky person who gets over it quick and as much as I hope it will be that way, it is probably gonna be rocky for a few days. I hope this helps:::::::
I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU! It will be over and I will feel so much better. My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little. It is hard, but doable! The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page) under Health Pages will help. I did not to the tranquilizers and had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped. Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help. I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.
Hydrate and eat! ((gatorade is good) Even if it is just a little every hour or so.(boost or ensure might work for both food and drink) You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.
If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works. Walking seemed to help me some. Hot bath with epsom salts..a little. I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep. If nothing works, your doctor might help. Benedryl helps some with sleep issues and you will have them.
One hour at a time is all anyone can ask. After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time! Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill. I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse. I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.
The hardest part comes after the detox. Your brain will be all over the place and will try to get you back on the pills...It is having to work and not depend on the pills to help.
Good for you. I hope all goes well. You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!! Keep posting!!!!!
I myself am starting today a tapering program my Dr. has set up for me. I have been taking percocet for 5 years and have ranged from 15mg a day to my current dosage of 35 mg per day. My Dr has me on a tapering scheduel of 30mg for 2 days then 25mg 2days and 20mg 2 days until I am off. In total based on the tapering scheduel my Dr gave me I should have tapered completley off of this nasty drug in toal of 2 weeks. In antisipation of the withdrawls I might feel he has also perscribed clonidine which is a blood pressure medicine that is suppose to help the withrwals smptoms. I have no idea as to how this will go however, my Dr has assured me that he has done this with lots of patients with a very high rate of success. I am sure it wont be easy however, I am a very determined person and truly want to get off of this drug and get control overy my life again. I am dependent of these drugs not for a high but just to feel normal. That is the problem with this durg you have to take it just to feel normal. I hope this gives you one idea of how to get off of this drug. May God bless you and me as we want to rid ourselfs of this nasty drug! Keep me posted as I will do the same.
This is a very theraputic place to come as its very necessary to have a support group of others that can relate. While our family loves us there is no way they can relate to this problem.
Keep me posted!
