it's only 1:18 here. I have been off methadone for 6 days, and vicodinand xanax for 21 days, and havent slept more than 1 or 2 hours at a time for the 21 days.  I'm a walking zombie!  i can sure understand why they use sleep deprivation for a form of torture.

by Alex29, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
hmmmmmmmm have you tried a sleeping aid for one night. Seems to me you should. Try 1 tylenol PM or 2 - depends just dont take more than expected. Do you work? If so sleep then lol

the dr put me on prescription sleep aids.  didn't help, in fact i felt worse.  just more of a zombie.  I know i can get through this, but my family expects me to go on a trip in a week, and i will have to drive.  just want to know if i will be sleeping by then, or if i will have to stay home for safety's sake.

by Alex29, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
i would say if you dont sleep in the next few days you shouldnt drive. You should go just NO DRIVVVVVVVVVING.

by Alex29, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
i here it does from others i just dont want to risk another addiction

by lucyred68, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
it's natural, an herb.  no addiction possible.  I won't trade one addiction for another either.  that's why i wouldn't use subloxone.

by Alex29, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
hmmmm i might try it then so yeah from everyone on here it sounds ok to do

by lucyred68, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
i was just wondering if my receptors in my brain are so screwed up from the methadone that they won't receive anything.

by lucyred68, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
still there?

by Alex29, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
sorry .... i dont think so.. i think sleep is a natural thing you have to remember your body is adjusting to LIFE Without DRUGS

by lucyred68, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
how long were you on the oxycodone?  sure wish this stuff was harder to get tnd that dr.s weren't so ready to prescribe it.

by Alex29, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM

The sleeplessness is really tough to take and it does to wear you down some. I am day 19 now and starting to get about 6/7 hrs on some nights. Last night was a tosser and turner. It will get better and you have to hang in there. I know how tough it is but you have been doing so well. I take benadryl  and (sounds crazy) but dramamine too, it has always really made me tired. I switch them back and forth. I also do the excedrin pm. My problem is staying asleep but it is getting better. Hats off to day 10!!!! That is such a milestone. I have to say, although I am tired this morning I am feeling pretty good. Don't give up and know I am rooting for you.

hi.. i just wanted to let you know a few things since i've been an insomniac since - like - forever.

i don't know what your doc gave you but there's generally 2 classes of sleeping drugs: sleep hypnotics (ambien, lunesta, etc.) and the benzo's (valium, klonopin, etc.)  the former does not address anxiety, obviously the latter does. ideally, get yerself both and sleep like a baby, but i think the benzo's are your best bet right now if you can only get one.

sorry if this pisses anyone off, but EVERYTHING is tougher without sleep - and in this situation it's almost asking too much.  a bad joke.  to be in an even weaker state when you're coming off drugs.

also, if you have a whole foods around you, there's a thing "deep sleep" - it comes in a liquid (drops) form.  it's pretty good (and herbal.)

i'm not going to say "you gotta sleep!" because when people would say that to me, i wanted to punch them in their face.. "oh - ya think?"  but i would only say try everything you can, ask the doc for more/different stuff if ya can - try any stone left unturned if there's an option... because i do know firsthand how much worse that makes everything in life when you are sleep deprived...

good luck, sister...
