i.v. use with suboxone

i.v. use with suboxone

i was wondering if anyone has heard of people using suboxone (not subutex) and getting high using it I.V. i know that most of the stuff i've read says it will send you into withdrawal but i've also talked to people who liked it ''' i guess what i'm wondering is whats the use of using it if you can use it I.V. the habit i'm trying to kick

The people are shooting plain buprenorphine - not the sub (which is bup and narcane) - so that is why and how......the sub (which has the antagonist) will put you into precipitated w/d's

Let's say you did do it. There will be two possible effects: 1. There will be no benefit to injecting it as the naloxone will block out the buprenorphine just as fast and the buprenorphine could start working. Which there isn't much if any euphoria from buprenorphine anway - so I don't see the point in the first place. 2. If you already have a high level of buprenorphine or any other opiate already in action - you will go into precipitated withdrawal from the naloxone.

So yes you can do it. It's just pointless, and possibly very uncomfortable to hellish.

There is the real danger of overdosing because of wanting to inject it as well. Since the naloxone is blocking out other opiates whether you realize it or not, you may keep attempting to take higher and higher amounts of an opiate concurrently - until you reach an overdose level.

If you do not want to be on Suboxone and want to abuse a drug. Find another one. Suboxone is not a good choice unless you want to make changes.

thats what i was told but i saw someone do this myself i was on methadone for four years and i hate it i've just started using some suboxone i get off the streets and i fell like i was in a four year haze but i always seem to slip into temptation and if it can be done then i'll probably end up doing it but i sign up next week for the program and i hope the doc will have some answers.........also i read that its only about eighty percent that has a bad experience and you would think that would be enough for me not to do it but i'm an addict........ nuff said

Just pointing out that even if you hear or read about it being done - it's just pointless to do. And if you don't understand that you aren't going to get high from it, it can be dangerous if you take it past a certain point. It is truly a drug that must be followed prescription-wise even if it deters wanting to get high in the first place. But if a person is intent on trying it to no end... they will end up in trouble eventually. Just trying to answer your question directly with no BS.

Have you tried overcoming your addiction without using more drugs? The temptations will always be there so unless you learn to deal with them without the use of drugs you"ll always be in active addiction. You may be an addict but there is recovery from active addiction. They say that if an addict puts in half the time on recovery as they did in using then theres a good chance of arresting there addiction and living a drug free life,,gl
