I think I came up with a good taper schedule and I wanted to get an opinion or more. So from 5mg 4x daily if I do -1 pill a day a week would that minimize they symptoms really I'm trying to not have symptoms but with my cut backs over the last week I know that's not possible. But what I'm gonna do is cut my pills in half and take a half and a 1/4 each dose for a week and then 1/2 a pill each dose for a week and then 1/4 a pill each dose for a week and then 1/4 a pill am dose and pm dose a week and then done. My other schedule I made seemed really drawn out and complicated and had a lot of room for error. I need to be able to function every day for work and kids and scoot by without anyone knowing I'm doing this. Just thought someone has done this and would know. I want to have another baby and I don't want to be taking these through another pregnancy. I became dependant because of a screwed up neck but my chiropractor has fixed it. I've been dependant for 5 yrs almost.

What is the drug (or did I miss that)?  The shorter a self-supervised taper is, the less likely you'll cave.  Personally, I'd drop as quickly as my body would allow me to.  I'm not sure I understand your plan; are you planning to cut each pill half to start?  I like the idea of "dosing" every 6 hours rather than cutting out a dose, but cutting each dose in half may be too fast for you.  Start with cutting 2 doses in half -- then cut the other 2 in half.  Then go to 2 quarter doses anm 2 half doses, etc.
You want to drop as fast as you can wothout feeling it too much.  It would be great if someone could hold the pills for you and dose you.
Exercise and start the amino acid protocol as soon as you start to drop (actually, start that now since you've already dropped).
Keep in mind that even following my suggestion you are dropping  25% right off the bat -- that's high -- 10% is more typical.
pm me if you'd like.  Good Luck

i didn't understand your schedule.

i am tapering now.  been using about 5 years too.
every 3 days i lower my dose.  i am down to 1/2 a pill (2 quarters).  i have had minimal WDs.

for example i was taking two pills for 3 days, then i would take one and a half for 3 days, then one for 3 days, the 3/4 for 3 days, etc.....

i don't know what's up with what % i am dropping...ust going on my gut feeling of what's right.  don't psych yourself out.  you will not have WD if you tapper.

best of luck!

I'm taking one pill out a week just removing it from each dose instead of taking a dose out all together

Since you are taking 5mg of hydro, I don't think you'll have any wd if you taper 5mg per week.  I thought you were planning to cut all 4 doses in half (which would be like dropping 2 pills per week).  Just stick to your taper and you'll be fine.  You are making the taper much easier by not skipping doses, just reducing some of them.  Once you get down to four quarter pills per day, you'll only be taking a total of 5 mg per day.  That should be easy to come off of.  Good plan -- as long as you stick to it.

Be carefull.  It would be better if someone else dosed it out to you.  You are trying to control something that has control of you.

As I said in my first post, and as Lisa034 said, it would really be best to have someone dose you (hold the pills).  I understand it may be hard to have someone dose you every 6 hours, but maybe you could have someone give you just a days worth at a time?  It's tough to taper by yourself.  It absolutely can be done, but the statistics aren't good for those who do it alone -- be aware of that.  At some point, your mind is going to try to convince you that it is OK to take extra one day and just take less the next.  When that happens, remember this post.
On the bright side, you are already down to 4 tabs a day.  If you stopped ct right now, your wd's  would probably be mild.  But I respect the fact that you want to taper down to avoid any real wd's.   Keep us updated -- even if the taper doesn't go as planned (actually, especialy if the taper doesn't go as planned).  If you thow some excercise and supplements into the taper you have now, I doubt you will feel any wd.  But you really should start the amino acid protocol now to prevent PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome).  Some of the amino acids, combined with exercise,  will minimize any cravings you may have and help your sleep once you stop.   If you don't make some after care plans, I fear you may start again.  Take care of yourself and plan ahead -- you deserve to live a happy, healthy life.
