just passed 100 days clean and still little defeated...

anyone offer any input or experience....just passed 100 days clean from opiates and still feel defeated, very weak, and not quite myself yet....I see on boards and in NA rooms people with 30 days clean or loving life, feel great, and have resumed their normal life..I feel like I miles behind...is this okay?

as a short background I progressed to a heavy opiate user..at one point was doing 40 norcos a day. I managed to get clean once before...I do remember that it took forever last time too to get back to normal...like a year... i mean, getting out of bed and doing basic tasks seemed impossible to me for a year....but I just as I was about to give up I remember that eventually I did get back to normal and did things everyone else did...I did go back to using..this time was up to 100mg of oxy a day for about 3 years...I am 100 days clean now...but still feel very defeated...I thought I would be able to bounce back much quicker this time since did not "use" as much....feel very scared of the future...scared of using again...It still a struggle to get out of bed....just defeated on the things I pissed away and maybe their is some chemistry things going on still in my brain? I feel like I just starting to "dream" now at 100 days when I sleeping..I wake up exhausted...dont get me wrong, alot of things have gotten much much better...not dope sick...can lie in bed for 10 minutes and not do anything (which to me is great..I remember I use to have so much anxiety that I had to be watching tv or doing something 24 7..I could never just sit still and do nothing)...anyways, i see alot of positive changes going on..but I also feel like things are not progressing where they need to at all....anyone with experience offer some insight??

Im at 80 days right now..I noticed a big difference at about 30 days and since than not a whole lot going on.starting to dream again going out to eat a lot more enjoying life most of the time .i wish I felt better at this point but it is what it is.the highs are high the lows are very low.i would like to move things along faster if thats possible I'm taking multi vitamins working out if I feel motivated and playing a ton of PS4 & tv.still having trouble getting out of bed in the morning some days I go back to sleep.Oh yea thank god for my dog he keeps me busy with feeding him and taking him for walks he makes me get on my feet which is a great thing.i will say I though I was completely done with oxy until I installed a water heater at a close friends house who is prescribed them.i was playing mind games with my self how I could just take them once etc etc ,thank god I did what I had to do and got out of there thank god ... so that also put me in my place,I'm lucky to be where I am at the same time trying to put this in my rear view mirror so any advice tips would be great thanks

well i think optimum health is the answer. the amino acids will help to heal your brain and good foods will give you energy and just a well being feeling. i totally changed my eating habits and started on the aminos when i quit. felt pretty much back to normal in just a few weeks.

looking back to before i got hooked on the pills. i was always out of energy and had a hard time getting everything done always. that is probably how i got hooked so easy. the pills gave me unbelievable energy. so now the food has replaced it and i feel so much better than ever.
happy holidays!

100 days is FANTASTIC!

At this point..if i still had the lethargy u r describing.i would perhaps seek an AD/anti-depressant...sumpin to give me nrg...if u do not u may relsapse..it is hard to feel like this for a long time...it could be u need to find the deficiency u have neurotransmeitter wise..as often this is the reason we use in the first place.....we r depleted somewhere...for some it is seratonin...for me it was dopamine and i found out cos i responded so well to tyrosine..SSRIs never helped/as they help seratonin deficient peeps//most tram abusesrs are seratonin deficient causing them to abuse this drug///trams never appealed to me//cos i am not seratonin deficient....i am not taking anything AD wise now other than 5htp at night and tyrosine here and there for nrg.....u have to supplement the deficiency in ur brain and a doctor can help//and u can help urself thru learning about it//learning about neurotransmitter deficiency..it is really no complicated at all

have u tried the thomas recipe?....it saved me..i was at 60 days and melting into the couch//worked 5 days a week but other than that i had no life...i was on the verge of
relapse..i re-read the recipe and took the recommended amounts of the amino acids..i got my boodie off the couch and exercised daily/whether i felt like it or not//exercise releases endorphins///we need them right now//badly///..i upped my meetings and posted here daily

MOVING, MEDHELP and MEETINGS saved me...but the amino acids helped immensely as well...skim thru the health pages..a wealth of info there...dont give up and cave///stay with us....k?

I would have to agree I was GREAT after 30 days but great was not Great it saw Just a heck of alot better then WD I can remember still dealing with pain issues after 90 days .I can tell you some things that did really help me first was exercise whatever U can handle everyday make a MAJOR difference and as was said you may need to discuss with the doctor whether your have some chemical depression going on.I went the supplement way instead taking Ltyrosine for energy as well as B6 and 12 5hpt for mood . Magnesium and calcium for pain and sleep .Sublingual melatonin and I stayed away from caffine after noon I could not cut it all out it was not happening but I made myself only drink it in the am.I know it is still rough but I think you will find out soon it will be getting better .

Hi Donefornow, Salsinator is right...It takes 6 months to a year for your brain to get back to normal....or at least close to what it used to be. Some people say that they feel great at 30 days but I doubt that they mean back to normal. There is also something called the "pink cloud effect" that you can Google that can explain a false sense of back to normal for a short time for some.

For me it was 3 months before I started to feel consistently just OK. I wouldn't call it good but the roller coaster of ups and downs was ending. Most drug experts say 6 months before you get a handle on things so look at it this way. Your almost there:o)) Don't compare yourself to what you think things should be but just try to deal with the what is. We can sometimes set ourselves up for disappointment and relapse when we get down on our self. You are doing a great job and you just need to be a little more patient. Lots of folks would give their right arm to have 100 days.
Try to enjoy what you can of the holiday and be grateful that you are clean. Next year will rock. I promise. Merry Christmas to you. Be safe and positive:o)) Corey

Hi donefornow.  Happy Holidays!  Please don't get discouraged.  Each person takes different amounts of time for the brain to heal and there are lots of factors that can play into the healing time.  You already know that it does take time for the brain to heal and you indicated that before you did get to this point, but that it took up to a year.  For the average person, it can take up to six months for the brain to heal and start producing all the endorphins naturally.  There are supplements that you can take to help this process - check out the amino acid protocol in the health pages for this information.

I am just past 200 days and I would say that it took at least 90 days for me to feel any kind of normalcy.  I had several anxiety or at least the first 60 days and my sleep cycle is still not completely back to normal yet.

Something to consider, there may be some other reason for the way you are feeling right now.  Some people self medicate because of an actual chemical imbalance in the brain.  Have you ever taken any anti-depressant medications before?  Have you seen your doctor since getting clean?  You may want to have a check up with your doctor - tell them about how you are feeling.  Also, some counseling with a therapist may help too - I have been seeing a therapist each week for over a year and it has helped me in more ways that I can describe.

Are you in any kind of aftercare program?  Do you attend meetings?  I don't attend meetings myself, but I am on Medhelp daily - Keep posting, there are lots of great people here who will continue to support you.  Congratulations on your clean time - all the best.  S
