your post hit on a good point. If you are not as informed on a certain drug, give general help and keep the poster around the site. I dont do pills , and know even less about them... cocaine is my doc. but when i see a post , i can refer them to my friends list, or a moderator here. that way I dont give out bad info when a persons life may be at stake.
you have a good point as a matter most everyone on this topic does.didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, by the way mjax024 ,t's not a synthetic opiod either, call any pharmacy.(had to stick that in) knowing me i probably had a bad day and was confrontactional, i apologise. i'm just a miserable addict like most everyone on this forum.i just found this forum 1 month ago,i'm not to familiar with this type of openness,i've never even been to a aa or na meeting, even though i've been an addict for 8 years, always trying to do it on my own.i feel lost at times.anyways i try not to be negative, thanks for opening up my ears.
I used to work for a drug company that sold tramadol under lycence as zydol. I had almost unlimited access and stole and took the drug in ridiculous amounts (i.e. 100+ tablets per day along with IV injections). While this may seem like every junkies wet dream, I consider myself lucky to still be alive
Check member nikki / sikki ? drug sales rep for tramadol.........also drug prob with tram and physicians..... it is not an innocuos pill no matter what it is called or scheduled.....at least with heroin we know what we are getting into - ??
never said it was narcotic...it can't be...i used to steal it from my sample cupboards...(even had a deal worked out with the drug rep) i said it was a synthetic opiate, not a real opiate. and that it was as bad as any opiate is to wd from. simply pointing out that its not a drug to take lightly...and many doctors still do.
I think everyone is missing something important here. It doesn't matter whether something is in one class of drugs or another does it? Some members have admitted being addicted to things such as diphenhydramine (benadryl), some people are addicted to phenergan. A drug doens't have to be labeled 'habit forming' for someone to become dependent upon it. Regardless of what class of drug we choose as our DOC, whatever 'thing' we obsess over.... it causes our life to become unmanageable. For some people it isn't a drug at all.....gambling, sex, porn, eating.....
I don't think people intentionally give false information so I wouldn't take it personally. We are all here to help eachother overcome our fear of living life on life's terms.....without our drug of choice, or habit of choice if you will. Even members of medhelp don't always agree 100%, but you take all the information you gather and come to a reasonable conclusion.
stevo- I dont really understand what your point is with the tramadol. As far as most of us are concerned here on medhelp ultram is as bad if not worse than any other opiate. I dont care what the book says. Ultram should be a controlled substance but its not.
A rose by any other name.........quite similar effects.....very similar abstinence syndromes.....dont get hung up on names / classes / or schedules of drugs.......just get them out of the peoples lives without doing any harm ..........bottom line....
morphine and codeine are not synthetic...,,,could be more tho
isnt any opiate, other than heroin, synthetic since it is government/man made?
i wanted to be sure,i have the book right in front of me,it says the effectsof tramadol are similar to those of narcotic analgesic.although tramadol is NOT a narcotic,it may become habit formin, causing mental or physical dependence
your not doing your homework.tramadol other known as ultram is not a narcotic, your right it acts on those same receptors, read the pdr book'i have
tramadol is a synthetic opiate, it works on the same receptors as natural opium. and it's just as dangerous when abused. it's still relativley a young drug...remember that vicodin, firocet, and many others were sampled in the doctors offices too at one point. there is still alot not known about tramadol. but what is known is it's just as nasty to wd from as most other opiates. whats important is once you're off of it, try your hardest to stay off it.
Clearly on the L side of every medhelp page is a warning stating
"Member Comments are provided by individuals and reflect their personal opinions only. Under NO circumstances should you act on any advice or opinion posted in this forum. ALWAYS check with your personal physician before taking any action regarding your health!"
Everyone is here to help one another, but you should always do your own homework after someone tells you their opinion. Regardless of whether someone knows if a drug is an opiate or benzo or hypnotic....we are here for one common purpose......to help one another get clean and stay that way.
Good point for all though, don't always assume everything you read is true and accurate
It was me who said Soma was a Benzo my mistake.. I take responsibility.. I had used soma for 12 years and stopped suddenly.. You can die of a seizure as one members mom has.. It needs to be tapered like one and it is a ***** to wd from the confusion and muscle spasms with the anxiety and total depletion of energy it should be treated like one... I will not make that mistake again SteveO but I will also not play down how severe coming off long term soma use can be.. lesa
pretty much LOL it is all relative...these are people here sharing and learning...few have medical degrees and even less would even want a medcal degree! just a group of people who come together during hardship and in the process make each others life a bit easier! very nice and very wonderful if u think about it
no....tramadol is a synthetic med that affects that MU receptors just as opiates do,,,here nor there there are plenty who have felt the pain of tram wds.....soma is a muscle relaxer that breaks down into a hypnotic...and is a drug of abuse for some..i dont recall anyone ever saying that soma was a benzo but i am not on here 24/7
