lorcet/ lortab addiction and withdrawals

ive been on three different strengths of hydrocodone , 10/325, 10/500, and 10/650. my addiction doesnt really seem severe but it still feel like its an addiction. im prescribed 4 a day but sometimes take 6, i feel like i have to stop before i get extremely out of hand but im concerened about the withdrawals. Im currently going through flushed and blurry vision but wonder how long it will last? and if my chronic pain will feel the same after ive gotten off them. Is there any treatment or medication that will help me through the way?

ok, so you are in the same exact boat I am in. prescribed norco 10/325 and taking normally 4 but moved to 6 a day. BE CAREFUL when taking that many of the larger doses of apap, especially by taking 6 of the 10/650's in 24hrs. that is almost 4grams of apap, the maximum people can take. (liver failure)

anyway...i've been told that going cold turkey is an option at our level of hydro intake. I tried c/t but felt very sick, flu like sick. My body hurt so bad, especially my knees, the problem I had to treat in the first place. However, after day 4 you will really feel yourself again. I am currently taking some methadone, no more than 10mg a day and plan to do this for 2 more days. I have been told not to even go this route so I personally recommend it, yet haven't experienced and problems with it. A total of 4 days is my focus.  Methadone is SO SO SO dangerous, be careful. I Plan to take 5mg tomorrow and 2mg the next day.

If sleep is hard for you a benzo like vallium (10mg max) works well. Drink plenty of water and eat fruits. Allow yourself time to lie around and feel sh**ty because you will. If you can, take walk, go swimming, get some sort of excersie. Nothing that is painfully hard, but just to try and get some endorphins back in ya naturally.

Good Luck

When we take hydros for pain over an extended periond of time your body realized it is receiving help and will quit producing it's own "pain killer."  This is why when we quit taking pain meds our bodies hurt.  There are things you can take to help lessen the withdrawals but you are in for a ride.  This wont be easy BUT YOU CAN DO IT!

I am on day 5 without any hydros and still feel anxious.  I was taking 2-4, 5/500, Lortabs for chronic pain for almost 3 years.   I would recommend a taper probram.  Take your usual dosage today and begin to reduce the amout slowly over a period of time..say 2 months.  SOme people recommend going cold turkey but that can be a bitc*.  Stay on this board for help.  There are lots of folks who really care and will give you support.

STAY TUFF!

hello, I have been reading some of your posts, and think maybe some of you can help me. It all started having open heart surgery, then chronic neck, and back pain after that.I have been taking lortabs for the pain, about 5 or 6 per day, I also started drinking beer with the pills to "I guess feel even better". I am married, two children, and my life has changed. I now am an drug addict, who drinks beer too. MY sex drive is gone, I can't even have sex with my wife anymore. I know you didn't need to hear that, but I had to say it because I'm hoping that if I can come of the pills and the beer, I can have my life back. Including the Intamacy with my wife. Any advice on this subject would be of great help. I do not know where to trun, and I am not in the best of health anyways. I do have a lot of anxiety, and pressure, so what do I need to do, or where to start. Please help and Thank you in advance. Thejoker
