Can you smell the boot already?
Suboxone isn't cheap from my experience. The cost for 84 pills if I didn't have insurance would have been $492 = I paid $40 with insurance. It is a fantastic drug however.
I have a ? can the dr. which is my regular family physician prescribe a syb for me or do I need to go to a detox clinic? I cannot afford to check into someplace I need to be able to stop the hydro while working and continuing my normal everyday life.
I REALLY want to get off of hydro I know I am not taking near as much as a few ive seen on this forum but I also know if I dont stop soon I will be. I want to thank evryone who has posted to this thread and to whomever started this website, in just a couple days of reading I have found new drive to finally tell my Dr. I want off. you guys rock!!!!

The difficulty will depend on how long you have been taking Lortab. Lortab is a very strong narcotic analgesic (Hydrocodone). Usually, there are no physicially fatal side effects, but there is definately withdrawl involved. The best way to go about this, is to start by advising the physician that prescribed the drug. Weaning off this drug is usually the best way to handle it. You have to want to do this and have great will power my friend. There are drugs that can be prescribed during the withdrawls, which usually last a good week, or two, depending on acuity of addiction. Suboxone is a great drug to combat withdrawl and helps with relapse. Also, Valium or Lorazepam is prescribed for restlessness, insomnia, and agitation. Excercise is a great tool to your advantage during withdrawl time.

I have been clean from Lortab this time for 16 days. I had to quit cold turkey. It was not easy but the withdrawls only last about seven days maybe even less. I worked the whole time. Ya know the funny thing for me was my back hurt alot worse while taking the pills. It does get better. I feel good today and look forward to Thanksgiving with family and friends.

I have tried the taper off method and I am able to take a half a 10 but only every couple hours if I go longer I start to feel tense and irritable, as stated perfectly in calzy's post my body is wanting more than I am giving it I guess. from reading alot of posts on this forum I see that I am nowhere near as bad off as alot of people on here but at the same time I know I have a problem and I want to stop taking this drug from hell. I dont even take it for the high anymore its mostly for relief of that horrible tense feeling.
it only sometimes even helps with my back pain, my dr. gave me something today to try called lyrica. he said it is supposed to help along with the lortab but im just wondering if it is something I should even try. I doubt it will make it to where I can go longer without lortab but who knows all I know is that I want to be able to go through a day without having to have 4 or 5 pills in my pocket to get through work ughhhhh
After awhile using higher doses the drug does not last that long and your body is calling out for more and withdrawals starts with aches and pains all over your body. You can try to taper down and ask your dr for need some help because you have been taking more than prescribed to work. There is the "Thomas Recipe" that you can look up in the search above that has helped alot of ppl. You can look into Suboxone to help get off the opiate use, either a short time for detox, acouple of weeks to a longer term use if needed or try to c/t off the stuff. 8 months should be doable to get off with and taper and/or c/t, but try to talk to your dr about this so he can provide some comfort meds to get you thru it. Think about some kind of recovery plan, aa-na meetings or some counseling for after you quit so your ready if the cravings come back and coping without the pain meds. Good luck.
Dude, you're in the right place. There are hundreds of us trying to kick either the exact same addiction or one similar. In my case it's hydrocodone and Lortab/Lorcet. However, I was taking 20-30 Hydros along with 10-12 Lortabs a day. I chose to go cold turkey and just stopped taking them. This may or may not work for you. I'll let you know now that the withdrawal is no picnic, but can be done. Use tylenol PM or something cold/flu night time to help with sleeplessnes, aches and pains. Hot showers and baths will also help. You should start feeling better around day 5 and maybe earlier in your case as you haven't been taking as much.
Others have successfully used a taper down method. Someone will post more about how to do that pretty soon. Good luck! Love and Strength to you!!
welcome...
That is really up to you .You can go cold turkey or you can taper down. I have done both neither are very pleasant .I am a quick taper girl .....like a week and then off. chose what you think will work best for you.....you can do it.
