lyrica advertisment on this site, thats fucked up!

by what_the_huh, Dec 22, 2007 12:48AM
Not a question.  I see on the left hand side of the screen an advertisement for LYRICA, a durg that I have abused (ive abused alot).  Its a drug similar to neurontin and prescribed often for nerve pain...Do you think its responsible of Pfizer to advertise on a site for people who are trying to stop taking drugs?  I'm sure its not an accident...what a bunch of sneaky assholes, bad bad drug company, spit on you, shame shame, bad karma sent to you!!!!!

I use the Mozilla Firefox browser, then I get the Adblock addon. It blocks all the ads. Love it and it is all free.

There are other ads on other forum topics.  Maybe one of those got misplaced.  These here all run a theme, and on other forums they run other themes.

Mozilla is an open-source internet browser, similarly to Internet Explorer, that's free.  Goggle Mozilla and you'll find the main site to down load it from.  The open-source means anyone can get the source and write ad-ons for it -- and they do.  It's a "community" program.  It's the browser of choice by anyone tired of Microsoft.

Along with the download pages, there is a community forum, ad-on pages to down load the ones you want, and a whole bunch of stuff.  Along with the browser called Firefox, there's also an email program called Thunderbird that looks a lot like Netscape before NS was bought out.

The tabs in the IE 7.0 were invented with Mozilla.  They created tabs, and MS copied them because they were popular.

(There are two versions of each program, a standalone and an integrated one.  Even though the version numbers are very different, they  are essentially the same, and at the same level of development.  So any copy of Mozilla you download from their site is fine.)

first off lycria is a non addicting drug better an add for that the say oxy .
We have to keep in mind the there are many people that can take these meds and not get addicted Med help has many other forums
These drug companies pay to advertise on the site ,without them we wouldn't have a site.

The same thing happens all over the internet. Ads for internet sources of the drugs that people are trying to stop using are there. Although it doesn't make a lot of sense to put those ads there, site administrators alow it allow it. The site is paid to allow it.

I worked at an anti-drug site for two years. We didn't allow ads. This cost a total of $10.00 per month. So maybe the money is needed for some other worthy cause.

i don't have a problem with it.

if it helps with someone's pain, and gets them off narcotics, i think it could actually help someone (i too, never had any addiction prob's with neurontin, etc.)

the drug advertisements arent for us addicts..but for those that may need pain management for their ailments....such as fibromyalgia....or cancer as there are other forums on this site....

OK I'm back, thank you for comments...I was a little mad at pills last night.  I agree that we make the choice to abuse pills, pills do not abuse us.  Have no problem with pain pills for those who need them and use properley.  I disagree that lyrica is not addictive, and I still think they ought not advertise here...someone else can.  No the advertisements are not for addicts, but they are on a site that is for addicts..., and I'm sure they are aware of that. Sorry about my naughty language!  And thank you for your responses!
Bye

I don't know what Lycria was doing on this page since ALL the rest are for stopping addiction, so my point is that it looks like a mistake.

Lycria on the other med forums makes sense since they advertise meds that might help those conditions.  That's not trying to get drug addicted people to buy them.  It's trying to get ill people to consider them.

It's not targeted at your situation, just because it's on the internet, any more than advertising Lycria on TV (which I've seen recently) is targeted at addicts.  It's newly FDA approved for FibroM and is the only drug approved for Fibro so it's a hot drug right now.
