medication overuse headache

i'm taking 5 hydromorphone 4 mg per day . used to use fentynal (25mcg) patch also. been taking opiates for 2+ yrs for surgical pain   used to take alot   pain is almost tolerable in chest , but my headaches are WORSE!!??  ready to taper off pain meds entirely.  I tried a trial run last week. 7+ hrs after my last pain pill wore off my headache was so bad a wanted to die. ready to use clonidine patchs for the big day, but,will that help my headaches or is there some other medication(s) that will help. both my P.M. doctors now and before ignore my questions about withdrawal. my neuroligist gave me amytripiline.  HELP    will chase   :)

Do you smoke cigarettes?

I know that sounds like an off the wall question here, but a lot of times, if you're a smoker -- taking narcotics makes you want to smoke more. When you smoke more, the more headaches you get.

A long time ago, percs would sometimes give me wicked headaches. That was one reason I quit them without too much fuss. I wasn't that lucky with hydro:-)
