my bio mom is a parapeligic who has been on methadone and valium (diazapam) for many years, lately they have been giving her dialudid , for pain every couple hours , but from my experience once on more than 40 mg. meth daily it does block .
i think this is a very individual thing as far as the human body goes though, they hav also given her fentynal , which i think is F'N crazy, but its hard to argue w/ doctors when all u got is a 30 year street degree..........
Hi there. I think the tramadol will be next to useless when on methadone. Your current methadone dose will almost certainly block or severely limit the efficacy of a dose of tramadol.
When i was on the methadone they used to hand out 'Pain Cards' These were like medic alert bracelets that had important information regarding adequate pain relief for methadone dependant people. It also had a phone number for a doctor to call so they could discuss the best medications to overcome the blocking effects of methadone. There is a well known opioid that can be prescibed that somehow shortcircuits the methadone block. I will pm you the name if you like. I wont mention it here on the open forum.
The blocking effect can be overcome by titrating conventional meds but it is not an exact science and really needs to be done under medical supervision. Tramadol is not the drug to be doing this with. It has a maximum daily limit and i think you would eat that up in no time and still feel nothing. Dont try this yourself at home. The results could be disaterous.
I know this post maybe treading a fine line concerning medhelp guidelines so i apologise in advance if it is offensive to anyone.
Anyway Good Luck. Find another Doctor with a little more compassion and a lot more knowledege about pain relief for opioid dependant people
Kind Regards Jeremy
Sorry but I have no clues, tramadol is useless for me. sorry about your pain. I know a lot of people have had problem abusing it. Are you a chronic pain person?
Hi! I think you should really talk to the doctor about this. Tramadol is not something that I would ever want to see someone get started taking! Especially since you have a past addiction problem and take methadone!
I'm sorry about your pain. Talk to the doc that you see about your back and pelvis, and see if he can do anything else for your pain!
