methadone addiction

Has anyone ever heard that after many years of opiate abuse, your brain is unable to begin to release the body's natural feel good (eudophins).  It's like that part of the brain has forgotten how to, or it has died.  A counselor told me that.  Anyone else been told of this?

Yes i have heard of that as well as experienced it. i went to one of the country's best rehab's and sad to say.. yes that is a true statement. pretty scary, huh? that is why people in rehab do fun things.. like I went white water rafting, golfing, bowling. It's not to just spend money it's to learn how to do fun things with out drugs, and actually enjoy doing them. It's tough at first but trust me. it gets easier and easier.  The sooner you stop killing the natural "Fun" in your brain the sooner you will begin to experience natural fun.

a human body is amazing, if you give it an oppertuity to heal, it will. the feel goods come back after time, its the in-between time that is hardest.
