methadone help

Hi I am looking for some feedback from anyone who might have some experience with this.   I started on methadone about 2.5 years ago.   I started out at about 90mg daily but dropped to 60mg daily after a couple weeks.   Then I dropped to 50mg for about 6 months.   I became pregnant last March and instantly dropped my dose to 20mg daily.   By the end of my pregnancy in November I was down to 15mg daily.   After I had my baby I went down to 10mg daily for about a month.   Now,  I have been taking 5mg every other day for about 2 months.   It has been about 80hrs since my last dose.   I took 1 10mg Norco about 12hrs ago because I have chronic pain abd my back was driving me nuts.   My question is will I still go through severe withdraws coming off such a low dose?  I actually feel decent right now a few hours into day 4 but I'm wondering if that Norco just prolonged things?  Has anyone else come off such a low dose and what was your experience like?  I'm a new mom and I'm really worried about going through hard detox for such a long time like I've been reading about while trying to take care of my daughter.

Where do I see your daily log? Do I just have to scroll all the posts? That shows all your posts plus everything you've commented on so it's a lot lol but I'm on my phone so maybe it will be easier from my computer! ?

Awesome I'm definitely gonna check out your log because I'm very interested.   Wow you have all that stuff too, your An inspiration then because I'm so worried of the pain I will feel not from the withdraws but from the other health stuff.   I am in the mindset that I know this isn't going to be easy but that in the end it will be worth it! Thank you for writing!

Congrats on your baby girl.what a joy..I was on methadone with my highest dose 100.When I got to 15mgs I got tired of dosing and going to clinic.I tapered down in 5 days to 5mg,then jumped. That was 17 days ago.If u go on my profile I put on everyday my symptoms.Like gnarly always say u have to be ok with not being ok..It is a process.I felt horrible..I too have Ra,rls, cervical sponlyosis, pinched nerves, lumbar deterioration...it goes on and on..also need 2 knee surgeries. It can be done without pain meds.I havent taken any in 2 years.I am going to go to dr and try some non narc stuff later and back on flexeril maybe..Right now the most important thing is healing from the methadone. One day at a time..Later I will take care of the pain.try the things sugeested and let yourself heel.I realized after getting the tabs out of my system that a lot of the pain was from them.We have to heal our bodies, everything elae will come..Take care of that baby and keep us posted..Hugs.

Thank you that really means the world to me!  I was on pain meds for about a year an a half prior to me becoming pregnant and when I found out about the pregnancy my Dr recommended I switch to methadone because supposedly it was safer to taper down off that than top just stop taking my original meds.  He was actually a crappy Dr and I was naive and just assumed dr always knows best which now I am a little More aware.   Anyhow that's what my new drs are suggesting to try the injections and phySical therapy along with the nsaids I have to take and other crap to slow the progression of the autoimmune crap. I tried the melatonin last night with my muscle relaxer and I actually slept! It was great.   Today my back is just REALLY hurting and it's chilly here but I am dripping sweat.  I hate that.   I have a prescription cream that I'm gonna put on and hope that eases my back pain a bit.  I also feel kinda depressed today but i dunno if it's from the detox or other stuff going on that is stressing me out.  Thanks so much for the support I never really thought internet support would do anything lol but I'm surprised at how much it does help! Hope you have a great weekend.

I am so sorry about your pain. Please try the things I suggested above for pain. Remember pain increases during detox. How long have you been on pain meds? There is also opiate induced pain (OIP) hyperalgesia,

It will take a month or so to re-evaluate your pain post opiate.
Hydro therapy, tens machine, steroid injections, acupuncture. I hope you find
Other treatments.

Cold is ok for now. Protein shakes are very good and help during opiate detox. Sleep does take awhile to come back. Over the counter natural
Alteril, sleep by nature made, melatonin, valerian root, sleepy time tea, kava tea, chamomile tea all could help with getting some sletp. hope you find something that works.

Remember try to rest even during the day when the baby does,
You are a good mama. Your daughter is blessed to have you.

Yes, I am so blessed my daughter didn't have to go through that.   I was terrified of her having to suffer.   I don't use the liquid or go to a clinic I have 10mg pills that we're prescribed to me from my pain management dr .  I have really severe back pain but also have rheumatoid arthritis and other auto immune diseases.   I am getting off the methadone to try other non narcotic meds to see if they will help my pain.  I still plan on taking my flexeril which Is a muscle relaxer and a prescription cream for my back and some anti inflammatory medication.   I'm having a hard time eating and sleeping.   The only thing I can keep down is Gatorade,  smoothies or milk shakes I dunno only cold things are appealing but I am trying to get some more nutritious food down.  Thank you for responding I do feel really confident that i can do this! I'm just worried that the other meds aren't going to manage my pain but I'm willing to try because I need to be 100% for my daughter.   That's my main concern because I just REALLY don't want to miss out on anything with her because I'm sick or in such pain.  Aghh

You are welcome.
What a blessing your daughter didnt experience withdrawal.
Congrats on the birth of you daughter.
Take hot Epsom salts baths for pain.
Is that why you were on pain meds? For back pain?
Take magnesium supplements. That helps your muscles.
The Epsom salts is also magnesium.
Use a heating pad and ice switch back and forth.
Try to move around as much as possible.
Do stretches.
You are doing great.
Keep moving forward.
Stay hydrated.
Are you eating ok?

Thank you so much!  No,  I do not plan on continuing the Norco.   I am trying to get off everything to see if other things will help with my pain now that I am finally getting diagnosed and finding out where all the pain is coming from.   I was so scared of taking anything while I was pregnant but I went with my drs recommendation and just tapered down asmuch as I could and I was very lucky that my daughter did not go through withdraws and was able to come homewith me when I was discharged.   Thanks for the encouragement!  I  am starting to get really bad back pain but I'm hoping it doesn't get much worse since I'm already 3.5 days in.

Hello and welcome. You did great with keeping your dose low.
You have been on a very low dose for a year.
With a continuing taper. You have been at 5mgs for 2 months.
You have been off for 80 hours.
Methadone has a long half life. So your blood serum level of methadone drops slowly.
The withdrawals usually start from 3 to 5 days after your last dose.
You could be fine.
There is increased pain in detox.
Do you plan to continue taking the norco?
Did your baby experience withdrawal at birth?
Don't fear withdrawal.
He are  doing awesome.
Keep the faith.
