methadone help

my name is David,Ive recently aquired a street connection for dones and been buying 150 5mg tabs a month.being the addict that i am they last only two weeks.Ive run out again and decided not to re-up is there any home remidies out there that might help with withdrawal keeping in mnd that i work 40 hrs a week.my wife will no longer give me her vicodin to help.How long can I expect to feel so ******?

I can really relate to how you feel about done from being a long term methadonian. I too have nightmares sometimes about being on clinics. I saw some really bad people there do some bad stuff. I'm so glad I'm off of it and always try to help another break free if possible. "Methadone, there's no future in it" all the best

i wouldn't believe it myself if i hadn't done it myself...i hardly remember..the only word i can think of is horror...i had circumstances that gave me NO choice..it's a long story..but my heart races out of my chest whenever i come across the topic of methadone..i'm sorry

I was on it for about a year..i got up to 70mg/dy abd went i went cold turkey from 65mg.dy..i still have nightmares but i get pissed because it seems that some...make lighter of that drug than it is..I agree 100% that there is no future in it!!! I get too upset when methadone is said..just the word makes me want to puke...so..not everyone agrees and thats ok..but i can only speak of my own.. and some people get really mad..NO ONE will ever change my mind...I have been off that evil **** since aug 1 2006.

Thanks for you great expierence and success. I don't see any difference between the pills and liquid. At the clinics we used to say that we were always getting shorted on dose because of calibration. Anyway the important thing is you made if off the done with 6 kids and that's unblievable. Keep on the path Dave and you will be rewarded.. "Methadone, there's no future in it"

I went cold turkey off 65 mg of liquid methadone..i never used the pills..But i can tell you that..i have 6 kids and I would have rathered given birth to all 6 everyday for a month than go through what i did...everyone has their own dealings with it. I haven't heard from anyone here..(and I am all over it when i hear the word) about the liquid form of it. so i assume for some reason that the pills just aren't as strong..If you want to pm me..I'd love to share more. i already had hate mail this morning..

That all makes sense but this guy is buying done on the street and doesn't have the luxury of a taper. Like I said you should either go into detox (if you really want to quit), or go on a methadone program if you don't. "Methadone, there's no future in it" all the best

Keep in mind, not all people will go thru the same physical withdrawals, I am at 2mgs today!! & I have taken this very slow & have had a few bad nights with hardly anysleep & some light sneezing & lack of energy but it went away & the reason I went thru this is because I took a huge decrease of a 4mg drop & when your as low as I am you have got to go slow, but I didnt listen, this week I did, I only dropped 1mg, so Im doing just fine. I also spoke with a guy who came into pay his bill at my local methadone clinic & he was telling the receptionist that he didnt go thru much of anything except for not sleeping well, but again he took it slow, so the chances of not suffering are decreased with titrating slowly, the higher dose you detox off of, the worse shape you will be in, studies have proven this time & time again, but unfortunatley we addicts once again want instant grattification & with a methadone taper thiers no instant fix, this takes time. it doesn't matter much what the dose is it's the time you are totally saturated with methadone. You can pick up a nasty little habit in 2 weeks especially if you get easily strung out but it won't take too long to get well if you want too. all the best

Ten pills a day isn't so bad! You'll do fine! **** I was up to 5 TIMES that a little over a month ago. I got myself down/tapered to twice that amount of hydro before I stopped.

All those sujestions are good skippysizemore... You sound like you prepared yourself.

And it is VERY important to have a schedule for the detoxing period if you want it to be sucessful!!!

I'm not trying to be the devils advocate here, but maybe you should taper before you stop? Try taking one less pill a day and START all of the vitiam suppliments immediately! VITIAMS TAKE 2 WEEKS TO MAKE FULL EFFECT ON YOUR BODY! I would say if you were as bad as me, or using Oxy or something, a clinic or another suppliment Rx to minimalize your withdrawal symptoms would be nec. But your addiction is not as bad as it could be...

Oh and with respect to skippysizemore... I have to disagree. With only 50 mgs a day of hydro, his physical w/d shouldn't take more then a week. The worst day 2-5, max. But the symptoms are right, completely, and they seem to be universal... methadone, ultram, suboxone, vicodin, you name it. The itch in my throat and sneezing I didn't pay much attention to... But make perfect sense!

You can do it! Oh yeah, and sitting in frount of the computer posting us all is a good distraction while detoxing! Good luck!!!

where were you when i was detoxing from done?  sure could have used some of that advice then!!  Alaska, he's not over stating it.  it is all that and more to get off.  if you have insurance and access to a suboxone dr, that might be the route to go, but if not, you'll have to take a couple of weeks off from work, maybe even three weeks.  even at that you;ll feel like you've been through a knot hole backwards.
