methadone to help with vicodin/soma withdrawls?

by steveQTtime, Jan 03, 2007 12:00AM
I have been taking Vic/Soma for about 3 years, Started out with back problems. Just like alot of people I started taking way to many! 20 vics/ 15 soma a day. this amount only for the past 2 months some times less when i could not find any! TIME TO STOP. I NEED SOME GOOD advise.
I went by my mothers house and she had some Methadone 5mg. yesterday i took 4 5mg the whole day and no Vics/somas and did not get HIGH at all and my withdrawl systems were down to a min.
SO i ask Am I just trading ONE for the OTHER or can METHADONE work to help get me off these PILLS.

thanks for your help

Yes and no. Devise a taper using the meth. cut them in half or and see how you feel every second day. Don't take them for more then ten days. The last two days should be slivers. Here is a drug to drug converter web site that can show you what 5mg vic. compares to meth. http://www.medcalc.com/narcotics.html
good luck

Matine,
Thank you for that site. helped out a lot!!!!
The site said 1 x 7.5mg vic = too 20mg or 4 x 5mg methadone
I hope this is right.
I have not taken a Vic or Soma in 2 days
I hope this way helps me get off for good.  from 20 vics 15 somas A DAY to ZERO with only the help from 5 - 5mg Methadone a day.
How long should I stay with this program.
I plan to try cutting back more this weekend!!!  get some sleep if you know what I mean!

My Dr. wants to use methadone to get me off fentanyl pain patches. I was on 100mcg, and I have been cut down every three months. There is still w/d and at this rate it will take me six months to get off of them.

I would only have to be on 10mg of methadone twice a day for two weeks and I would be done. The patch would come off before I started it.

Big decision for me to make. I lean towards the methadone and then lean toward the taper. I have not been high. At this point it's a matter of getting off of them. I take 1mg xanax 4x's a day. Maybe that will help if I increase it a little.

Everyone take care......LS
