methadone withdraw

I've been going to a methadone clinic for 6 months now. I haven't been back in 5 days. My doctor has prescribed me lortab 10/500 and 25mg librium every 6 hrs. Needless to say the librrium is almost gone, Before the librium i've been on xanax for 2 years. I went 4 straight day no methadone, I feel like such a loser had my husband by me 30 10mg methadose yesterday and i feel like a failure but the hydro did nothing for my pain and the real pain doesnt even start for 7 days. is there anything i could tell my dictor that would work better than the tabs? she said she'd ween me off them after the methadone. not gonna work if i keep buying it on thr street. i absolutely will not detox at the clinic. that place ruined my life. Any advice on HOW to get through this?

In order for you to get away from this med, you have to keep an open mind and take other people's advice.  How is your pain?  I'm confused as to if you want to get off all pain medication, or get off the methadone and take narcotics?  Can you function without any medication at all, or have you tried non narcotic meds for your discomfort?  If you want to get off the medication, you need to be honest with yourself and your doctor about buying off the street.  You are sabotaging yourself by taking more than prescribed-perfect addict behavior.

Maybe there is another inpatient detox that doesn't use methadone you can look into.  Anything is worth a shot?  At least look into it and learn as much as you can.  Remember, what worked for others can work for you.  As long as you are willing.  Good luck my friend

Hi there, I understand completely what you mean about the clinics..What mg have you been on daily? Thankfully you have only been on methadone for 6 months but unfortunaltely it's long enough to have to suffer w/ds..can I ask why you started on methadone..was it for pain or to get off something else. Everyone is different but as penelope said..time is the only real thing that you need. I know how tough it is. My own opinion is to go cold turkey. I know it's not the most popular opinion but i went cold off of 65mg..another friend here went off cold at 30mg and a couple 20..the w/ds in my opinion were about the same and lasted for the same amount of time.I know it's very hard to resist taking something while you are going through it but I believe it will only hinder the process..how much librium have you taken..you need to be careful going cold off anything like that or xanax..the w/ds from benzo's are not only very uncomfortable but also dangerous. Prepare your mind as best you can..It sounds like you have some support which is very important. You got to tough it out. Please pm (personal message) me anytime. As penelope said..it is very tough but can be done..I will have 2 yrs this Aug 1..  please don't buy that **** off the street..how are you feeling right now?

I recently detoxed from methadone & understand what your going through, I really believe with methadone withdrawals the answer is time, but theirs a few things one can do to make themselves more comfortable, such as warmbaths, clonidine, melatonin for sleep, taking vitamins, eating healthy, & having a positve attitude. Also taking street methadone will only prolong the process of detoxification. It took me a few weeks to start feeling better, & then another month to begin feeling good again, this is not a easy thing to do, but can be done. Penelope

Good Morning and welcome to the forum! I don't have any methadone experience and I don't think alot of people are up yet.....but you will get answers you just may have to wait a bit.... If you look to the right of the screen there are health pages click on those and there is info in there that can help you as well. You will get responses it just might be a bit!

Don't beat yourself up....don't feel like a failure....you can beat this and you will! I tapered from lortabs and that's the only experience I really have....but again check out the health pages and hang tight and someone will be on soon!
