methadone withdrawals

Hello,

Today is day 3 for me with the support of my girlfriend going through methadone withdrawals. We are both in pain and could use any support you could offer. We are wondering how we are going to make it through a day at work feeling this bad. We do not know if it was the best idea to do this cold turkey.

Please please please wish me well. I going For my detox on 14/4/14 and already feeling the withdrawal I'm on 14mgs of subutex . I've been there had 5 naltrexone implants and failed miserably. I'm going for the long arduous torture but it's time to get clean. Hope to catch up with you all soon x

Is your doctor writing the scrips? If he or she is then they will understand and if not you may have a little more explaining to do. A doctor will not turn you in for drugs they will help as long as you stay honest. How do you feel for day 3 ?

I have been taking 20-40 mgs of methadone a day with a mix of approx. 40 mg of oxycontin twice a week for the last 7 montha. Before that, I have quit oxycontin a few times cold turkey for a few weeks here and there. I do not know what i would say to my doctor.

Hi I'm rock!!  The best answer to your question is a question how much are you taking and for how long? There are many here that have gone c/t I'm one giving us some background on your use will be very helpful. Everyone is different but c/t is c/t and from opiates symptoms are very similar to all. I hope this post will help some. My best advice I can give you is talk to your doctor asap.

I agree with Tony you need to see your doctor, I was hooked on Methadone for 4 years not from trying to withdrawl from another opiate Methadone WAS my gateway drug and I was getting them from a friend who was getting scipts.  I told this all to my doctor and he did not ask any questions nor did he want any names, he tried to help but he is my family doctor and I think drug addiction is out of his realm, he prescribed valium which was useless.  I tried to go cold turkey 3 times and relapsed all 3 times, everyone I talked with said Methadone is a very rough ride when trying to quit cold turkey.  When the Methadone was no longer available I took Vicoden to try and ease my withdrawl from Methadone but quickly got hooked, after 18 to 25 Vics a day for over 3 years I decided it was time to get serious about getting clean, I found a Shrink who is also skilled in treating drug depandancy and he prescribed Suboxone, I started taking Suboxone on Friday and I was back at work on Monday feeling fine, I have been taking 16 MG a day of Suboxone for about a year and a half and I can honestly say I do not crave opiates, I have gone a week and a half at a time without Suboxone with very little discomfort.  When I feel the time is right I will try to weene off Suboxone for good.  Suboxone is expensive without insurance but a lot of insurance plans do cover it.  Cold turkey is a ***** and there are alternatives other than Methadone.  I hope this helps!
