by jimgreg, Jul 04, 2009 01:11AM
im on 10 mgs aday of methadone...been on this dose 3 yrs now./.its keeping me from sleeping and it dont help the pain anymore..i never wanted it in the 1st place..it helps some with the pain..i have bad knees and lower back..work injury..the problem is that im bipolar1  and the meds they mostly have effects on the c.n.s. and i dont want to be freaked out..the getting stable is important on the bipolar issues....is it safe to take physic meds on 10 mgs of the methadone..i knw  this would be the place to ask...

3 yrs ago i was on a higher dose of 80 mgs...i took serquil  and it never seemed to effect any breathing on the combo...mabey if you could explain this all to me...then mabey i just stay on the methadone..its a low dose..but stil gives me sleeping issues...the drug they want me to take is geodon..the shrink knows im on the metadone..he never said anything..i cant se why he never did..mixing cns,s  with a repertory depressant is not food.,.

PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS           THANKS  JAMES

just read ur post..i am in the medical field and xtremely usual for me to be on this late...thi is not a site where an MD will answer..we r just addicts here..advice from some..but this forum gives no medical advice..only experience from our own lives

uno///seroquil is a potent sleep med for most..if u r bipolar it will not knock u out like the normal peron who takes it and can be used therapuedically for bipolar disease

I have 2 good friends with a biploar disorder and can not remember if 1 is worse than 3?
ur dr is the one to ask but geoden is a drug more similar to seraquil than methadone...if u no longer have a pain issue then asking to be taken off 10 mgs of methadone would be a brilliant idea...obviously u r not in dire need for pain control..cos if u had a unresolved pain prob //addicted or dependet/ur dose woulda creeped up by now due to tolerence be safe and keep posting
