In my experience with opiates you must consider the half lifes......I dont recommend coming off of heroin nor methadone without being in a facility of sorts. Detox center, local hospital. Your blood pressure is the key player in that. If it goes too high you can have a stroke or seizure. I went to detox and another person was there to detox off of methadone and for 10 days he had mild symptoms. As I felt like death. When I was leaving the facility, his withdrawals made mine look small by comparison. Dont forget to read up on PAWS, post acute withdrawals, they help explain what happens once your body is clean. They can last 6-18 months after withdrawals.
Good luck,

being physically fit has no bearing on wd's. I was in great shape, and still had bad wd's, but that was because of methadone. if it takes 6 weeks to get your bowels, some what back to normal, that means it must be physically bad......
if your on opioids or opiates for a long time 2 or more years, then your brain's receptors are going to be messed up,period. which means the wd's are going to be tough. now ,tough for one person can be not as bad for another.
Could you explain what lofexidine is or what US drug it is. I suspect that you were never on enough methadone to block or diminish cravings. The same thing happened to me when I was on 40- 50 mg.. When I was up higher I shot dope and felt nothing so I wouldn't waste my money. Your withdrawals shouldn't be too bad because of the methadone. The brain and body treats it all the same, it's all dope. To be afraird of withdrawal in normal but be aware that your mind had some input on how much withdrawal you feel, I say some input. A positive attitude can make it much easier to kick. I remeber one time I went into an hospital to kick both methadone and tar heroin and my attitude was "ok withdrawal, give me your best shot". okay, I was younger but it helped a lot. all the best
I suppose it really depends on how much you're using daily. I don't think fitness reduces symptoms cause people from all walks of life have come off heroin and all seem to have the same symptoms.
http://www.lofexidine.co.uk/ Have a look at this website for more info on lofexidine.
A friend of ours went to Mexico and had Ibogaine. He was clean after 24 hours.
Money was no object to him though
