methadone is an opiate..so what would u be changing?  from an opiate to another opiate?  and as mentioned, u were possibly on an opiate of another sort when u switched to a new opiate, methadone..suboxone is also an opiate//a partial agonist but a very strong opiate as well////perhaps peeps go round in circles trying to find their way out of this viscious circle only to dig themselvesinto a deeper hole than they were in in the first place...and all along...getting clean has been inside of u..it is there//finding the strength and will power to be free can be hard...letting go is tough....but the answer is most often not in switching opiates....what have u tried so far to get/stay clean?  lots of support here so keep posting

hi welcome to the forum...so your thinking of switching opiates to get off methadone??
for most people they where the reason you got on the done in the first place...??
I would have to agree with mr lucky that I dont think its a good idea ...as addicts
we have no self control over our intake of other narcotics and you would be putting your self at risk for a major relapse into the world of active narcotic addiction again...
kinda scary if you ask me...your best bet would be to do a sloooow taper off the methadone  I got one off a neo/natal nurse that brings babys off heroin, methadone, oxy, ext if its safe for babys its safe for me I thought it worked good for the most part and it goes like this ....10% drop in dose every 72hr ....sometimes you have to let a bit more time go by to let your body adjust to the lower dose usually a week would do it but there are levels that you sorta get stuck at and will take longer...I came off 150ml and did it in 8 1/2mo...just set up a taper secedual  and do your best to stick to it sooner or later you will be free of the liquid handcuffs....what dose are you at now and how long have you been on it??? these all factor in to how long and difficult
it will be to come off of so post back with a little more info and I will try to help you out a bit more...good luck and God bless ....Gnarly
